CrimeTracker 15: Suspects Tackle Man in Mascot Suit

UPDATED: Tuesday, November 18, 2009 --- 4:58 a.m. Police are on the look out for two suspects who attacked a store mascot. It happened Saturday afternoon on the 700 block of South Gammon Road near Watts Road. Steve Smith, owner of Sports Clips Barber Shop, was dressed in an eight-foot-tall inflatable mascot called "Sporty." He was outside trying to drum up some business when he was struck from behind. Smith fell over and rolled into the street as his two attackers continued to punch and kick him. Luckily he wasn't injured. The attackers ran off afterwards and Smith wasn't able to get a good look them because the "Sporty" costume blocked his view. They appeared to be about 25 years old. Smith says it was the padding in the costume that kept him safe.
