      The Summer Olympics promise something for everyone....entertainment and spectacle in the opening ceremonies,  victories despite tremendous odds, showcases of lesser known sports and of course, unanticipated defeats.

      What will you be watching?  I love the grandeur of the opening ceremonies as the athletes parade into the stadium.  There's always a lone athlete from an obscure country who carries his own flag.   The closing ceremony is always heartwarming- watching the athletes really enjoy themselves and their fellow competitors.  In between, I'll sit down to watch swimming, gymnastics and the track and field events.  Some of the athletes will become household names while others will fade to obscurity despite years of preparation for their big moment.

     What are some of your favorite Olympic moments?  Which sports do you like to watch?

    I love to watch the Summer games more than the Winter ones. The swimming, diving and track and field are THE BEST!

    Our girls all play soccer, so we will watch that with avid interest. We also like to watch volleyball and track and field events.

    We'll probably watch whatever is on when we're near the TV, but like you, we like to watch opening and closing cermonies- from the wide eyed wonder of starting ceremonies to the smiles, confidence, and pride as the athletes gather one more time to put paid to the end of the competitions, and for one moment in the summer of 2008, countries from all over the world gather in sportsmanship, not war or oppression.

    I like watching the opening ceremonys. I like to watch swimming and gymnastics the best!!! The closing ceremony is fun to watch and kind of sad also because you know it will be another 4 years to watch summer Olympics.
