In the grand scheme of things eight years is not that long. After Republicans handed the Dems a thorough stomping in 2000, 2002 and 2004 the 24-hour cable networks were all asking, "What can Dems do to reinvent the party?" Fast forward to now. In just eight years Dems have taken over both executive and legislative branches of government. Thanks to one Arlen Spector, and his party jumping, the Dems could be filibuster proof. So what happened? Has there been a huge ideological shift in the country? Is there some other reason for this switch. Thoughts? |

The GOP has strayed too far from their ideals. If they ever ever give up their Hawkish behavior and corporate pandering, I might find them to a viable entity. I have never voted for a Republican, although in theory I would if I could find a find a candidate that was socially liberal. We all know we are going to pay taxes. I would rather help out my fellow American rather than turn my back on the poor and build up a war machine. |
