News of Felicia's murder has quickly spread, as have the rumors.
As a member of the media, people often expect me to be privy to information. I am not withholding information, nor is NBC 15 as a news organization.
I have distanced myself from reporting on Felicia's unfortunate death. She was a friend.
I saw Felicia, Friday evening, an hour before she left on her Mexico get-away. She was so excited and anxious to spend some time south of the border, with good friends, as she's done several times before. Our conversation ended with a hug, like always, and a promise to catch up when she returned. Who knew that day would never come?
Others have already described Felicia's giving ways. It's all true.
We all have choices to make in life. Felicia chose to put the needs of others, first. She never wanted to take credit for her gracious deeds. It was what she wanted to do and that, was that.
Why is it that we often don't realize the difference a person makes until it's too late? If someone's made a difference if your life, tell them. Don't take them or their actions for granted. Get involved -- play a part in changing our community, like Felicia did every day.
I will remember Felicia for her good will and good heart. Her actions may define her, but it was her heart that motivated those actions.
