Thoughts on Winter...

Hopefully we have turned the corner on crazy weather we have had this winter. I've lived in Wisconsin since I was two years old and have been forecasting here since 1990. I can't remember a winter with as many storms as 2007-08.

In addition to my forecasting duties at NBC15, I also own a weather consulting company. I do forecasting for many municipalities as well as private snow plowing companies. The amount of work this winter for those interests as well as myself has been huge. I guess that is how I'll probably most remember the Winter of 2007-08. My question for you is: How will you remember this winter? Is there anything specific that will come to mind a few years down the road if you look back?

I am a 45 year old woman who has lived in Wisconsin for 21 years, and before that in northern Illinois (basically the same climate). I travel from my home to Monona daily for work.... about 40 minutes each way. I will remember this past winter as the winter that I seemed to put my life in danger on almost a daily basis just to get to and from work. I've never been in an accident and consider myself a good driver, but driving in this past winter's weather conditions caused much stress, fear, and sometimes downright terror in my daily commute. I pray that we get a break next year.

On a lighter note....Well maybe its not really a good idea afterall in these harsh economic times and the dollar loosing its face value to dig a hole at the back of my house and stash all my earnings because guess what, like Lake Delton, its might all get washed away...but if u are out on the lake someday, and take a peek in that refrigerator floating around, i bet you'll still find my six pack in there. lol My thoughts go out to those families affected by this tragedy!

what i will remember most is being thankful for having shelter and heat everytime it was snowing/storming out. i hope i never forgot to be thankful for those things. also, lots of snuggling with my honey on the couch.

I remember when you started forecasting in 1990. I thought you looked 12 years old ! Just moved back (from MN..shudder) and glad to see you still on the job. You now look almost 21 ! This winter has not been a welcoming back one ! Last yr. in MN we had almost no snow until spring, and we got hit by 2 12 " storms in a week. This year, though, makes me wish I had relocated to AZ !

I guess if were going to get alot of snow, I'm glad we broke the record. I've lived in Wi all my life & have always said the snow banks were bigger then. Of course they were, I was a kid. Anyways, I love the show & t-shirt, so wish me luck.

Posted by: E.S. Yes it was a crazy winter this year. I do remember winters as I were a kid living in Madison. Maybe not as much snow as we had this year, but they seemed so much different. I guess when you are a kid you live for winter to play in it. I still do like the change of seasons in Wisconsin, but this year just pushed me over the edge and I can say that I wish winter only lasted for about a month. Driving in the stuff was the worst! I will remember it because we had ice problems on the roof and it leaked - and now we have bigger problems.

Charlie you are our favorite weatherman and the past few days have been wonderful. This winter has been a shovelers nightmare. Everytime we got the driveway cleared either it snowed again or that elusive snowplow would bury the end of the driveway again. When I look back I have no idea how my husband did it without the snowblower..The invertor of that should get a medal. p.s. We are planning an Easter Parade on March 22 , could you send us some nice weather. PLEASE
