According to a poll on NBC-15.com the race between Kathleen Falk and Nancy Mistele for County Executive is close. As of Sunday morning at about 11:00, just about 900 people have voted and Falk holds on to a slight lead (52%-48%). With the 911 Center issues, the commuter rail and subsequent half percent sales tax increase, the issues are very real. But as a relatively new member of the Dane County community it is difficult for me to grasp the scope of all these issues because my involvement with the county goes back less than two years. So, I would like your help. Who are you voting for and why? I thank you in advance. |

Unfortunately, one's campaign says a lot about one's management style and character. Therefore, I hope she and others like her will NOT run again. Posted by: Cindy Location: Western Dane Well, unfortunately Mistle lost (she made the call center her main issue and that was part of her weakness) BUT she did carry the rural areas, and that SHOULD be a wake up call for Falk ( and Mayor Dave) that there is NOT support for the RTA. Posted by: Cindy Location: Western Dane I would not be surprised to see Mistle carry the outlying areas and Falk the city. I am voting for Mistle. I think the 911 debaucle is unexcusable, and virtually no one in the outlying areas supports the RTA. There are very few that would actually use a rail system because of the nature of their jobs. Alot of the suburban people are blue collar or have jobs like computer consultants, etc that need to have their own vehicles to go to client sites. I truly think Mistle will win or at least make a STRONG showing against Falk. There is not the support for the RTA that she and mayor Dave thinks there is. Our Board of Stupidvisors Rep. Pat Downing has lost touch with his constituents if he thinks there is support for an RTA as well. This election is going to be interesting. She talks the (negative) talk and I'm betting she will not be able to walk the walk. I don't really care for Falk to get a trolly rails running through Dane Cty. That's a waste of money and time. But I still like what she can do. Posted by: B Falk has been there a long time and I've seen negitave inpact most recently. Taxes way up, employment way down (before the economy downturn) smoking ban causing much of the unemployment and chaos. She spent a lot of time runing for govenor, attorney general..... blah blah while still collecting her money as executive. Can you Chris, tell your boss you are openly looking for a better job and still be paid by NBC15? It was apparent she felt not paid enough, or perhaps, unhappy with her job as executive as to why she ran for other offices. She did not have Dane countys best interst when she was looking for a promotion. Time for fresh blood I say... mistle for me. And down with the mayor too while were at it. Posted by: tLh Location: Madison I'm voting for Falk. There is too much missing from Mistele's "message". HOW is she going to accomplish what she says she's going to do? Sounds to me that under Mistele, we'll be in a militant era with no thought for anything else - budgeting, human services, land conservation, lakes and watersheds, and on and on... While we may not all agree with Falk's ideas (light rail), at least we know where she stands on the issues... Posted by: PetVet Location: McFarland Mr. Rogers aside, Kathleen Falk has a substantial history of dedication and hard work put into the interest of Dane County. She is pro-environment and is sensible and pragmatic. Mistele picks on the 911 fiasco because she herself has no history or judgement to exert. Kathleen Falk has had Dane County's best interests at heart for a very long time and has a very broad knowledge of how to get things done.
