The time is 4:12 in the afternoon on Monday, April 27. I sit at my computer having absolutely no idea what to blog about. I think to myself, "OK, what does the audience want to hear? Fishing season starts this Saturday. But, I could tend to babble and babble, driving people away. We have this swine flu thing going on. But, everyone is getting inundated with the news on that. Let's check some other news sources."

Reaching for my mouse, I begin to click on all the news websites I have on my favorites menu. Nothing seems to interest me. And if it does I fear that I wouldn't interest you.

"Come on, Chris," I say to myself. "Think. Think. What is going on around town? Fishing season starts on Saturday. I know it does. But will anyone care about my thoughts on that? Maybe you should just blog about fishing. No. I already did that before, anyway. Leigh is talking about getting the fluids changed out in her car. That sounds weird. It doesn't sound like a blog topic. Today's my brother's birthday. No one in Madison cares. What did Rebecca just say? What is a bindle? I have no idea."

As the frustration sets in I go to our website, NBC15.com.

"Any interesting stories here?" I wonder as my eyes peruse the page. "What is the poll question? 'Will you prepare for the swine flu?' Of course! How about the most-viewed stories?" As my eyes pan to the right I see the top story is "Storm Mode: Sunday Night Storms".

"That is so yesterday. What's second? SWINE FLU!!! Blogging when you have nothing to blog about sucks!" My head falls into the comforting embrace of my hands.

The time is 4:23 in the afternoon on Monday, April 27. I haven't gotten anything accomplished.

Don't look to me for any ideas. The closest I ever came to a brain storm was just slightly overcast.

OK Chris... how about the lakes you've fished since moving here? any faves? any bummers? any favorite boat landings that have great ramps, and any that shouldn't even be called a boat landing? Have you tried to "dock and walk" yet? all around Mendota and Monona are businesses that welcome boaters to their establishments during boating season. Why not park the car somewhere on a Friday or Saturday night, take the wife, drop the boat in the water, and find a restaurant with lake access? what a unique and different way to go out to dinner by taking the boat instead of the car... maybe after dinner you can take a slow boat back, sit on the lake, watch a sunset... mushy romantic stuff. take along a home made cd/ tape of her favorite songs... maybe a votive candle, a blanket... listen to some tunes, light the candle, and just snuggle while the sun sets? Do you know Madison has more than 1 farmer's market during the week? do you know the north side of madison has their own on saturdays?

I appreciate that you at least gave us something to read. I must overcheck these blogs because it feels like forever between new ones. Sorry I don't have any topic suggestions... at least not at the moment. I say write about whatever you are passionate about (be it fishing, or what have you...) and people will listen.

Don't think too hard! How about a blog about May Day since it is tomorrow! Is this a Holiday that has fizzled? Do people still honor May Day? I'd like to know!

As far as the swine flu, yes we are getting inundated with information about it right now. We should be very concerned about this outbreak. This time I am going to throw a question at you. The media wants to report the facts about this outbreak, however, where do you draw the line between preparing people so that they can take proactive precautions and scaring people with too much information that becomes overwhelming. Already, it seems that in the spirit of preparing people that the media, in some cases, has already crossed over to scaring people. Maybe in this case, people need to be a little bit afraid but it is also important to keep things in perspective. As this story keeps growing, what the media reports and how it is reported will become very important.
