Hello,

To Favre or not to Favre?  Didn't he retire a few months ago?  I didn't see anyone twisting his arm back then.

If I retired and WMTV replaced me, I would have no right to do what Favre is doing right now.  Why should WMTV take me back if they already replaced me?

Favre is a good quarterback, I know that.  But it was his decision to retire.  I am aware that the GM and Farve have had their differences, but Favre wanted out.  Correct?

This is just a big distraction from the rest of the team and a new season.  It is really unfair to his team.  I can image they are probably not pleased with this mess (see story below).

Actually, I think this is all a big ploy with money at the root of it.  I bet he will be traded.  Favre will be laughing all the way to Minnesota.  Watch.

What are your views?

Christine

Here's the story that crossed today...

Brett Favre will be reinstated and added to the Green Bay Packers' active roster Monday.

The NFL announced the move Sunday after commissioner Roger Goodell had held off on granting Favre's request for reinstatement for nearly a week, hoping Favre and the team could resolve their standoff. By reinstating Favre, Goodell is following through on a recent promise to force action.

The reinstatement will become effective at 1 p.m. EDT on Monday.

Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, confirmed that Favre plans to fly to Green Bay on Sunday and report to the Packers on Monday.

"That's the plan," Cook said in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Sunday.

Favre could be on the field as early as Tuesday.

Favre retired in March but has been having second thoughts. Team officials have insisted they are moving on with Aaron Rodgers, though, causing tensions to rise between Favre and the team.

It is not clear whether Favre's reinstatement indicates that he has rejected a long-term, multimillion-dollar marketing agreement offered by the team. Reinstatement could force the Packers to increase their offer to Favre in hopes that he remains retired and avoids turning their training camp into a media circus this week.

Team officials publicly have ruled out releasing Favre, fearing he would immediately sign with division rival Minnesota. The Packers could still also trade him.

Hi Christine! Well, all those "brett backers" that said Rodgers wouldn't make it past 3-10 his first year are eating their words, those who said they would be laughing when the packers only ended up 3-10 are not laughing now! (kind of hard when the total is already 4-4!) Lastly, funny how all those "Brett Backers" said Rodgers wouldn't make it without getting hurt, or make it after he did get hurt- yet he played with a separated shoulder, and isn't addicted to vicodan! Ah, those poor brat farve backers... blinded by sitting so close to the TV trying to see their false god that they sure missed the call on Rodgers, and yet none of them have filed a retraction of their statements they made. Who's laughing now? all the Rodgers backers!

If anyone cares: Favre brought more fans to Green Bay than anyone else for a long time. How quickly people forget! Once a Favre fan - always a fan! Admittedly he resigned/retired a couple of times, but personal considerations often enter into this. He did more for wisconsin than Governor Doyle! Mary

Not interested in Favre at all. What interests me is Christine's vacation she took recently. I'm originally from Salinas California, and planning a trip out there in Feb. with husband and friends who have never there. Any tips of interest? We're of course going to San Fran., Salinas and Sacramento where my sister lives.

I'm a Bears fan. Not that he could beat the Bears anyways. I'm happy to see him move to the AFC. Now don't get me wrong he is one of the best ever...but he burned his reputation by trying to slide back into a Packer jersey. We are not idiots Brett money is all you have on your mind now. Youre love of the game is obviously gone.

i think that its over, i had enuff of favre, yeah, hes still wearin green, but lets put the cheese down, and stop all the whining!!!!

I am a season ticket holder. I have had these tickets for twenty years and have never missed a game, preseason or regular, until now. I have lost my joy for Packer football. I am so upset with Rodgers for his comment about the fans to get behind him or shutup. This is NOT a Green Bay Packer future, present, or anything that I want to watch. Brett would and has NEVER put down Packer fans. I also think people talking about being a ego maniac is a bit over the top when we obviously have the biggest one in a head coach that I have ever seen. I think the only reason that Brett is not with the Packers is because he could not get off his high horse and get it done. The people of Green Bay and Wisconsin own this team and should have some say, not the guy who has been holding him back. I will also say there will be at least ten fifty yard line seats that will get little to NO use this year but my five game Jets tickets will. Here's the start of ANOTHER 20 year drought for the Packers.YAHOO!

Argh. I just moved to North Carolina and I'm still seeing Favre on the cover of USA Today. Make it stop. I've been sick of Favre hype for a long time. I don't think his actions are financially motivated. I think he just can't let go. Favre needs to find another outlet. He was great in his prime but his prime was long ago. Maybe I should let go of Madison news :)

Posted by: cassie Location: madison
Allow me to comment on the Favre saga, but only criticize the local broadcast news organizations that insisted upon leading the news with what was going on with Favre. While it is very newsworthy for us Wisconsinites, there were probably more pressing and important things to start off the news with when all this was going on. It would have been nice to keep a sports story in sports. As an endnote, I am a Brett fan, a Packers fan and a sports fan, so this critical comment is not coming from someone who doesn't care about what happens to Favre and the Packers.

To R in San Diego...Don't people in CA have anything better to do than post a message on a website for a news station in Wisconsin???

Posted by: Randy Location: Randy
Hi Christine. I've lived all of my 60 years in Wisconsin and have always been a Packer fan. Your comments are right on. I wanted him to return for another year, but when he retired the Packer organization made their plans accordingly. I guess what irritated me the most was when he flew into Green Bay on his jet right on Packer family night so he was the center of attention. I think he knew mostly everybody in the full stadium would be fawning all over him. I think it took a bit of courage for you to write this, so count me as one of your fans.

I watched some ESPN at lunch today, and Brett's arm was a 20 minute story--apparently, his arm is "fatigued." Well, guess what everybody....people will be talking about Brett Favre more than anybody else in football this year, and probably for a few seasons yet to come. So as much as you don't want to talk about him, I think it's because we don't like to talk about our mistakes....he should have been welcomed back to packerland. I am jealous of Jets fans. Christine, I say keep this blog up....it has about 6 months to go. I like it.

Posted by: Scott Location: Madison
I am from Chicago originally (I know them's fightin' words 'round these parts) and I am not a sports fan so I don't typically follow these things. But the whole Favre story was disheartening. I realize that for an athelete, it may be difficult when faced with the prospect of not playing anymore. Remember when Michael Jordan retired, took up baseball (!) and returned to the Bulls? But he handled it all with such class and style. Yet for Favre, not so much. He just came off like a diva and I cannot help but to wonder if he has already tarnished his reputation, especially after his great season last year. I'm glad this story has been told out, he's in NY and good luck to him. Hopefully, we don't have to hear anything about it again.

Posted by: Don Location: Arlington
OK Miss Bellport, Favre is dead issue. Whats your next topic? Maybe how much the Cowboys will beat the Packers by or if they will be above .500 this year?

Posted by: R Ludtski Location: San Diego
Christine, for someone from the California area, I became sick of hearing about Brett Favre and the Packers, regardless of how it ended. To me and many of my friends we had to ask (partially tongue-in-cheek) 'don't these folks in Wisconsin have anything more important to worry about than a football player?" My gosh people, get a life, please so the rest of us don't have to hear about it.

Ralph, a couple of months ago...didnt Farve mean NOT to play???? One person does not make the team!!! Go Green and Gold!!!

Posted by: Ralph Location: Downtown
Does anyone remember packer football, 25 years ago? Green Bay should have given Brett anything he asked for. I am forecasting that there will now be an "economic cost" to packer football and the fox valley greater than the $20 million that they were going to pay Favre to retire. I think it's a real lose-lose situation. The packers will "earn" alot less in revenues, this year and in many years to come. I am not "excited" about packer football this year, at all. Moreover, I think it is a very sad thing to offer someone $20 million not to play--when there is so much poverty out there. $20 million could be used in so many other better ways. I applaud Brett for not "selling out" for the $20 million. He means to play. I mean to do my yardwork, and now not watch (except maybe an occassional Jets game).

Posted by: Katie Alright Michelle!!! You tell 'em girl!!! Let him go jerk the Jet fans around for awhile.

Posted by: Michelle Location: Mazomanie, WI
I think that Farve is getting too much attention. What did we expect from him?? He does stuff like this every year!!! I wish he would quit jerking around the GB fans. Enough is enough!!!!! Thank goodness he is leaving cuz I don't want to have to hear about it again or have to watch him on an hour long press conference about his two month retirement. I'm sorry if this is harsh but Farve....too late to say sorry and thank goodness you are the Jets problem now!!!!!!!

Posted by: Katie HEY BILL: can you enlighten us on Brett's "contribution" to Wisconsin? Besides driving all of you into some insane frenzy over him leaving?

Posted by: Patch Location: Madison
Know what Christine- we don't care how long you've been here- we love ya, and Bill and Pat are just really kind of rude- certainly not prime examples of what makes Wisconsin the warm, welcoming, wonderful state it is... as a matter of fact, their combined "you haven't been here long enough..." sound like the emotionally distressed rants of insecure people on a topic they feel strongly about b/c they're, well, pig headed and unable to accept change- and after all, it is only a game! I'll respect favre when I see that he did CPR on an infant and saved its life, or rushed into a burning building to save a dog, or held a dying person on a roadside as they died after a traffic accident- until then, he is just a jockstrap jockey that is so full of himself that there is no room to take a breath anymore! WE in this house love ya Christine, and you'll always be welcome here every morning! Give Mia a scratch from both of us- me and the tall fuzzy faced one! Go GB- Go CB!

Posted by: C Location: Madison
For the record: I am a Brett and Packers fan. I am sad to see Brett play for another team. HOWEVER, what I absolutely cannot stand is how the news has covered this story. You lead the news with the Brett Favre and Packer drama? Couldn't we have a little teaser and wait until sports to detail the madness? There are more pressing things going on in Madison, WI, the country, etc. than whether Brett Favre has decided to come out of retirement.

Posted by: tippywi Location: southern WI
The next time the "train leaves the station" I hope to see Thompson, McCarthy and Murphy on it!!

Posted by: Don Location: Arlington
You are so wrong Robin!! Favre thought HE was the team. He should have been gone two years ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah they were "one" win from the Super Bowl But they had a WEAK schedule to get there too. Wins over the Giants and Chargers early in the season were tainted because both those teams started the first few weeks as bad as you possibly could. You stupid Packer fans made Favre a God when he is nothing more than an ego maniac, selfish and money hungry athlete like so many others out there.

Posted by: Robin Location: Madison
I have now become a Jets Fan! Go Brett! Go Away, Thompson, McCarthy and Murphy, these 3 think they are the TEAM.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Madison
Cheez - It's like the world won't go on if Farve is not playing for the Packers. Give it up - A decision has been made - live with it. Yes - I am tired of hearing about it.

Posted by: Pat Location: Madison
I like the show but Charlies was right on about attaching a lie detector to each of the Three Stooges. And now they have hired Ari Fleisher to be there media person...doesn't that tell you something about the truth that won't come out of Green Bay. And, give Rodgers a chance..do you not remember his comment that the fans should get on board or shut up! To conclude,,,I agree with Bill from Dodgeville...you have not been here long enough to suggest how we should feel about Brett......

Posted by: Deb Location: Lone Rock
Please tell Charlie that he should be a Packer fan not a one man fan. And now I am grateful that we have something even bigger than Brett to concentrate-the Olympics!! Brett is not a team, he is just one man so suck it up Charlie and back your team no matter who the players are!

Posted by: Jay Location: Watertown
Who made Brett Favre God? We arfe better without him. Oh, he has a pretty good record, but what he does off the field counts more in the long run. And he failed there with his they should do what I want, I am good. There are other members of the team that are good and they made him look good. He will find a whole other world at the Jets. They can cater to his whims. Good for the Packer management, they did what they call tough love!

Posted by: Bill Location: Dodgeville
Sorry Christine, I don't think you've lived in WI long enough to realize the contribution Brett Favre has made.

Posted by: LYNNE WOWZA I JUST READ FAVRE IS A YEAR OLDER THAN HIS JETS HEAD COACH!

Hi Christine. Wow, you sure know how to draw them out of the porkchops, don't you? That Donna needs a couple of Donna downers! One thing I find humorous is she says not to throw stones at glass houses by judging Brett, yet she calls us all inconsiderate fan base, and forgetfull about what brett did while being a productive member of the packers team? Whoo Doggie! If that ain't like the possum calling the squirrel a tree rat, I don't know what is! Yet another fine example of "if you don't like the blog, or topic, don't post to it!" Same type of person that sits up all night watching pay-for-porn in a hotel, then complaining about what smutty channels the place offers! You're great Christine, & so's your blog! BTW Donna- it is people who LIVE in glass houses... get your metaphors straight Donna, before you judge us on being forgetful about things!

Posted by: R.B. Good bye Brett Favre. Wisconsin can now be rid of the prima drama that surrounded your retirement and your sudden realization that you still want to be in the lime light. I'd wish you luck with the New York Jets but I don't believe you'll last more than one season with them. Oh, alright, good luck Brett.

Posted by: Packer Fan Location: WI
Finally, we don't have to listen "As the Favre Turns" anymore. Yes, he did a lot for the Packers on the field and we should not forget that in light of recent developments and his changing his mind more than a politician. Now the Jet fans can listen to Favre retire for the n At the same time, enough already. It is time to move forward and to let go of Favre. By the way, I do not think that Christine using her job as an example was out of line at all...

excerpts from his boo hoo speech: “You've got to go out on top or you've got to go out this way or you've got to go out that way. I'm going out on top, believe me. I could care less what other people think. It's what I think and I'm going out on top.” later in his speech he says “You know, I think we all want to be liked and we want good things said about us, positive things said about us. As I stated earlier, I hope people appreciate me, the way I played the game, as much as I appreciate them.” Sooo, he wants people to appreciate him even though he doesn't care what they think? His comment that football was his only reason for wanting to un-retire? “Sitting in those meetings with the receivers and figuring out how we're going to beat the upcoming team and challenging each other and doing it in a fun way, slapping our big linemen on the butt, which I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon. But all that stuff, man that's just what it's all about. And I will miss that stuff."

Hey Donna, I have no loyalty to Favre or the Packers since I am a Cowboy fan who ids loving all this BS!! Favre leaving. being a jackass and the Packers acting stupid could NEVER happen is all I heard from people back when T.O. and the Boys had their tiff. That was nothing compared to all this. Way to go Packers and Favre! By the way, people should have always known Favre was a flip-flopper. Just look at his last name, the v before the r? Only in the south!

Posted by: G Location: Madison
Donna, I think all of the Favre backers should be ashamed for also calling themselves Packer fans. What Favre is doing is hurting the Packers. It causing a huge distraction...some of the players have even said so. For the past few seasons Favre has been dangling that "will I retire or not" carrot in front of the organization. He has held the Packers hostage because of this and their draft plans. Favre retires and the Packers spend a high draft pick on a quarterback. Now he decides to come back and it's a wasted pick. I can judge Favre all I want for a being a flip-flopper. McCarthy and Thompson aren't immature...they are trying to run a football team. I feel sorry for newspeople like yourself Christine who have to report on this soap opera day after day after day in this election year. I'm a huge football fan and I hate this! haha

Posted by: Donna Location: Dodgeville
Your blog made me sick Christine, dont compare your job with his, there is no comparison.Everyone on this blog should be ashamed of themselves for cutting Favre and his family down. So much for loyalty. Some of you forgot what he went through and still kept on playing, now that is a team player. Good Luck Brett, I hope you find a LOYAL team and more a considerate fan base. I know I will be watching and cheering for you. Too all you Favre bashers, dont throw stones at a glass house, look at yourself before you judge someone. Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson, this petty ,immature act you put on was sickening. It will come back and bite you in the butt, guaranteed !! Thanks Brett for all the memories, I just wish I could have seen you play in person !

Posted by: James Location: Madison
Anybody else notice how Christine has Favre going to the Vikings? It's obvious she is expecting the Packers to trade Favre for rookie quarterback John David Booty of the Vikings..a SoCal alum just like herself! Christine, if things work out as I noted, I assume you will be referencing this blog as your "Booty Call"! Here's a nugget for everyone to ponder. With Favre obviously leaving the Packers, how is Deanna Favre's bakery in Green Bay going to stay open without Brett making the turnovers?!?!

Posted by: Matt Location: Stoughton
Brett Farve should begin a new career in politics. He could be Ross Perot's running mate. I'm in. No, I'm out. No I'm in again...

Posted by: KATHLEEN Location: MADISON
YES ! YES ! YES JUST HEARD FAVRE IS HEADING OUT OF GREEN BAY TO MADISON TO CATCH A COMMERCIAL FLIGHT HOME. NO MORE CHARTERED GB JETS FOR HIM ROFL BYE BRAT YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELF WE WILL MOVE ON WITHOUT YOU GO PACKERS! GO (HOME) BRETT!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Madison
Hi Christine: I would just like to present a slightly different opinion of The Brett Farve story. I honestly believe he has a slight case of Cerebral Palsy. Over the years,I watched him play, I noticed it when he was undecided about which reciever to throw the ball to.The little G in his helmet would always look the same to me. Cerebral Palsy is brain damage at birth, or slightly before or after.Brett, I believe has a slight 1% to 2% case of it in his body, that I believe no Doctor in the world would ever even know about. It can cause indecision, emotional problems, even a lack of clear direction in the affected persons life. Christine, I know about this condition, and just wanted to let you and everyone else know also. In his case under 10% in the body, it won't generally stop a good person,it just makes certain things harder for him or her. Take Care.

Posted by: Rachel Location: So. Wis.
Let's start off, for the record, I love football. I love the Packers and I'm a fan of Favre. But, over the last three years, he's turned into a drama queen who flip flops more than a fish out of water. If he chooses to come back, great! I just hope he will be completely commited to the team. If he doesn't come back, then I wish him luck. The story is getting old and distracting for everyone. I'm sure there are many of us who would love the chance to be able to flip flop so much in our career decisions.

Posted by: Cindy Location: Blue Mounds
Sara: I SOOOOOO agree with you. I have heard so many stories, but it was said that Brett immediately had some misgivings and McCarthy and Thompson tried to buy him off and said Rodgers was their QB. Well I saw Rodgers at Packer family night and he was ROTTEN! We will be lucky to have 3 wins without Favre. Rodgers is a jerk for what he said to the fans. In my opinion Favre should have been first and just had the 'playoff' for position ( we KNOW how that would turn out!) then Brown 2nd and TRADE Rodgers. It all comes down to what Thompson wants which is "his way or the highway" according to what I have heard. I think McCARTHY AND THOMPSON should get the axe when this year is up for this!

Posted by: Don Location: Arlington
Eric, the packers will NOT be above.500 this year with or without Favre at QB. So go with Rodgers. Favre got to keep Majkowski's job when he returned from his injury, so let Rodgers keep the job since Favre "retired". What happens next year? Farve retiring again? If so, for how long this time. If the Packers allow Brett S***head to start Rodgers becomes a wasted #1 pick because that will way to long without playing football.

Posted by: Nicole Location: WI
I am not a big football fan but most people in my family are. The only question I have is why is Brett Farve more important than everything else that is going on in the world! Whenever you turn on the news the first thing you hear is what is going on with Farve, isn't there something more important than that to report about? My husband was watching the news last night and had just heard about the new tropical storm because everything else he watches is all about Farve for the first 5 to 10 mins. Please give us a break and put Farve somewhere later in the cast so we don't all have to watch it all the time!

Posted by: mindi Location: jefferson
In my opinion, I think has completely messed up his legacy here in WI.he should of taken his head out of his rump before he opend his mouth about retirement

Posted by: Packer Fan Location: WI
Favre to Minnesota? I'm gonna lose it... Then what? If that happens, will he be retiring from the Vikings for the next ten years? Off the field, he needs to grow up. As far as what the Packers owe Rodgers, nothing I guess, if what they tell him and the rest of the world is meaningless. I would like to think that there is still a little bit of honor in Titletown. I wonder how Lombardi would have handled this one... He probably would have traded Favre to Philadelphia long ago....

MY FAMILY HAS BEEN SEASON TICKET HOLDERS SINCE THE 60'S WE ALWAYS KEPT THEM IN THE FAMILY WE ALL HAD A CHOICE OF WHAT GAME WE WANTED TO GO TO. GUESS WHICH ONE I CHOSE? THE OPENING MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL GAME WITH GB VS MINNESOTA WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO "RETIRE FAVRE" HIS FACE IS EVEN ON THE TICKETS. SCREW HIM. HE HAS LOST ALL CREDIBILITY AND SHOWS HE IS ALL ABOUT DRAMA. TO THE PACKERS ORGANIZATION: STICK TO YOUR DECISION TRADE HIM OFF CANCEL THE "RETIREMENT CEREMONY HE HAS PROVED TO ALL OF US FANS THAT HE IS REALLY NOT ALL THAT SPECIAL ANYMORE SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU BRAT!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Filbert Location: Anytown, USA
Boy - Brett and the Pack have messed this up but at least it's football season. The hype by ESPN is simply a ratings-grabber (is that the vernacular from the inside, Christine?) as they will be broadcasting the Vikes vs. the Pack on opening weekend. Think of the story line, especially if Favre goes to the Vike?

Posted by: Katie I thought it was just as lame when Michael Jordan came out of retirement! Same with Garth Brooks..... if you say you're retiring, RETIRE!!!! Don't use it as a publicity stunt then bask in the glory when you decide to come back and everyone is supposed to bow down to you!

Posted by: Eric Location: Lake Mills
Can somebody PLEASE tell me why we owe Aaron Rodgers this pot of gold stature with the Packers? I will admit that Favre is an idiot with his constant retirement flip flopping, if you want to retire, than retire, if not, than don't, but make up your mind already. But, at the same token, would you people please shut your pie holes about the "future" already!!! Who gives a s*** about the future and Aaron Rodgers. Last time I checked, professional sports was about WINNING NOW!! Look at the Brewers!! Like it or not, Favre gives this team a way better chance to win now! How many playoff appearances have the Milwaukee Brewers had in the last 25 years by "planning for the future" with their farm system??? ZERO!!! The same holds true for the Packers!!!

Posted by: Sara Location: Madison
Favre is a football LEGEND. Were you all haters when Michael Jordan retired and then came out of retirement? Aaron Rodgers told the Packer fans that they need to shut up and get behind him and support him. That is not the kind of quarterback I support. It is fair for them to compete for the QB spot. Do you think all the other players have to compete to be a starter? Of course they do! It is a game for cripes sake. You folks need to quit taking yourselves so seriously. We all know Aaron Rodgers can't play an entire game without getting hurt. Who is left to play the rest of the season when that happens?

Posted by: Ted Location: Janesville
i agree with you. but who the h== is Jim in Cambridge? Can't spell, has no idea what is going on.

Posted by: SUSAN Location: MADISON
I WISH THEY WOULD TRADE FAVRE TO ANYONE. HE MADE ME SICK LAST NIGTH UP IN THE PRIVATE BOX WAVING HIS ARMS TO THE CAMERA'S. LIKE HE WAS SAYING "HAHA I AM BACK" I AM SO TIRED OF ALL THIS FAVRE DRAMA, HE NEEDS TO SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE AND SHUT THE HELL UP. I REMEMBER WHEN HE "RETIRED" LAST MARCH, THERE WAS A COMMENT THAT HE ASKED FOR HIS LOCKER FROM THE LOCKER ROOM. WONDER IF HE HAD TO HAUL THAT BACK FROM MISSISSIPPI WITH HIM? MAYBE HE SHOULD KEEP HIS CRAP PACKED IN A SUITCASE, HE MIGHT NOT BE NEEDING A LOCKER. I WILL BE GETTING RID OF ALL MY FAVRE MEMORBILIA, INCLUDING HIS WIFE'S BOOK. AS "CHRISTIAN" AS SHE LIKES TO APPEAR IN THAT BOOK, HER HUBBY SURE LOOKS LIKE HE HASN'T READ IT . I AM EMBARRASSED AND ASHAMED FOR BOTH OF THEIR BEHAVIOR THRU THIS. THE FAVRE "BOBBLEHEAD" HAS A WHOLE NEW MEANING NOW. HE MAY HAVE A WINNING SEASON (MAYBE) BUT HE IS A LOOSER IN MY BOOKS FOR THE REST OF THE TIME WE HAVE TO BE SUBJECTED TO HIS WHINING AND MANIPULATIONS.BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT #4

Posted by: Don Location: Arlington
I am VERY sick of Favre and the Packers story. Where is his commitment? Maybe he will quit during the year. Maybe we go through all this crap next year too. Time for Rodgers to start with a young team and let all the young guys play together (see Brewers). One other thing I was ticked off with was Deanna Favre. In a article, Favre said that she was telling him that the Packers were "manipulating" him. Maybe they were but sorry lady so was Favre. He had Greta do an interview first. Then he uses his two ESPN reporter buds to report on poor old Brett. Screw you Favre. Packers will go 8-8 maybe 9-7 with Favre or not. Packer fans should be looking what is best for the TEAM. They are NOT a playoff team this year. Let Rodgers get expierence this year. I am betting he just wants to add to his stats. To bad Manning will be breaking all of them in 5-6 years, including the precious consecutive start streak. He is setting the Packers BACK a couple years. Way to go Favre!!

Posted by: Jim Location: Cambridge
Sorry Sandy, we don't want him. We have a good ol' boy from WISCONSIN quarterbacking our team. I'll betcha he doesn't act like the southern fool Favre is. He will be a man of his word when he retires because he was brought up in Wisconsin. Favre knows nothing else other than football and what kind of jeans to wear. He needs a hobby and a life! Go Cowboys!!!

Posted by: Sandy Yah, and what's up with this "Quarterback competition"??? How lame...... if I were Aaron, I'd be pissed right now and looking for a different team!

Posted by: Packer Fan Location: WI
If they suddenly displace Rodgers after all that posing and posturing, I personally will boycott the Packers all season for the first time since I was a kid. Hopefully, it will not come to that. Fair is fair and Favre had his chance..several times... If this happens I will have NO respect for Favre and almost none for the Packers.

Posted by: Sara Location: Madison
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I AM SO OVER BRET FAVRE!!! He had a chance to leave with dignity, and now has shown the world that he's just a petty and petulant manchild. How is it fair to expect the team to stop everything just because he's decided he wants to play again? If it's money that's driving this, then I have to wonder, doesn't he have enough already? I mean, seriously- this is just crazy. I wish he would just go away to wherever he hides out and stay retired and quit acting like a baby. We already have enough athletes with gigantic egos- why add to it?

Posted by: Caissa Christine-Yeah, last I checked, he retired a few months ago, and everyone I knew was just sooo sad (besides my mom, sister and myself, who were happy to see him go). I'm surprised that no one's jumping up and down with happiness now (or that the whole state of Wisconsin didn't stop everything when the news broke out). If he's back as starting QB, I'm not sure if I'll be watching the Packer games this year as actively as I did last year. Oh well.

Posted by: Packer Fan Location: WI
I have said it before and I will say it again- I have all the respect in the world for what Mr. Favre has accomplished on the field. I have little or no respect for what Mr. Favre has "accomplished" off the field (especially lately.) At this point, I really do not care what he does (even knowing that the Packers would probably be a better team with him.) I also respect the stand that Mac and the rest of the front office are taking in this situation. Face it, as difficult as it is, it is time to move on. Go Rodgers!

SO SICK OF HEARING HIS NAME!!!! I agree, I do not think its fair for him to be able to come back, but I will say that I am happy that he will not return as the starting QB. That would not be fair to Aaron Rogers! And you're right, no one forced him to retire.... if I remember correctly he cried over how much he was going to miss it. I hope he goes to play for the Cowboys!
