Are you still taking kids to Disney World or the Grand Canyon? How about closer destinations like Mt. Rushmore or the Boundary Waters? Maybe the economy and gas prices are limiting you to a day at Wisconsin Dells or Great America with some not even doing that. I have seen more kids playing in sprinklers this summer than in years past, and I've seen more inexpensive backyard pools around the neighborhood than ever before. What are you and/or your family plans before the season ends? Share your comments and I'll post them for all to see....thanks and enjoy what's left of our hot season. David |

Our family takes an annual vacation for a week to Woodruff to stay at a cabin. We also go on a weekend getaway in the summer to either Wisconsin Dells or to go camping somewhere in Wisconsin. This year we choose to go to Door County. We had a wonderful time going to one of the state parks, seeing a few lighthouses, and going to a cherry orchard. The kids loved picking cherries and eatting them instead of filling their buckets! Fun was had by all and can't wait to go again next year! Posted by: Cindy Location: Blue Mounds David: Our family is doing more things locally. We are camping more within an hours drive or so. We did go to Noah's Ark for a day, but then we used Bucky Book Coupons to save on admission. Last year before gas prices were too bad, we drove to SD and did all the Laura Ingalls stuff in DeSmet, headed to Mitchell (avoiding the Corn Palace, then onto the Black Hills. Gas prices have greatly affected what our family does...it is getting hard to fill the van, buy groceries, and pay the bills without doing anything extra. We are using our pool pass to the Mount Horeb pool more this summer as a form of entertainment for the kids. Posted by: Packer fan Location: Green county With the price of every thing going up who can afford to do any thing!!! Nowadays most people stay home and do fun things where it's alot cheaper. What it cost to even go to the Dells if you have children is too much. You just have to do what you can after you pay your bills, etc. Posted by: Packer Fan We still take a vacation, despite the economy and gas prices. Thankfully, we did the drive to Rushmore before gas prices went way up. I wanted to drive to Gettysburg in the next few years, like my family did when I was a kid, but gas prices are making me rethink how we would get there. This year- Acapulco in a few weeks, but, of course, we are not driving. |
