Do you really love the sunshine, higher temps and wind or do we simply rejoice because it's not just not 25-degrees and snowing anymore?

Personally, if I were to rank my favorite seasons in Wisconsin, my top choice is autumn.  The crisp air and the clear, blue sky.
My second choice is spring when everything goes green with warmer afternoons and gentle breezes.  Now we have a problem....autumn here lasts about two months and spring is our shortest season because it seems to run about four to six weeks....there's absolutely no time to waste.   What am I to do?

It appears that once we enjoy what one season has to offer, we are almost ready for the next one.  For example, after getting the garden and lawn ready then grilling and visiting with neighbors I'm ready for summer festivals and water activities.  After a month of heat and some humidity, I'm ready for September with football and slightly cooler days.  It then seems that the holidays come charging in and I'm anxious for the first snow.

Maybe I should just be thankful for the changes we get by living in this part of the country, and I can't let advanced planning get in the way of enjoying special times that can be created in the moment.

Just food for thought.....

May the wind be at your back and try to set aside time to have fun in the sun,

David

I'd have to agree with you about Autumn being my favorite. The weather (cool/crisp with some warm days still) but also all of the things associated with the Fall. Football, going to apple orchards, drives in the country (provided gas isn't $4/gal again). Spring is nice but I think it's really because of the contrast with winter. After 4-5 months of cold, snowy and miserable conditions it would be difficult to go outside and NOT smile on a sunny day.

David- what you were quoting sounds like: May the roads rise to meet you. May the wind be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; The rain fall soft upon your fields And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. A GAELIC BLESSING My favorite season is spring for two reasons. First, it eventually means that winter is finally over. Not a big fan of winter, sorry. Second, it means summer is still on the way. I am a huge fan of summer as well. Although, after being hit by lightning (about ten years ago) and dealing with last year's flooding, we still have some PTSD whenever it rains a lot. We now have four pumps in the basement, so short of a biblical flood, we should stay dry.

Like you, David, I also enjoy all the seasons. I just despise the allergies that come with the warmer ones. I don't care for mowing, but there is something to be said for the uninterrupted solitude that comes with it. We love sailing our small boat, swimming, and camping (both summer and fall). I don't mind raking leaves and enjoy crunching through them with the kids. Shoveling snow isn't one of my fav things, but snow skiing is my favorite activity by far. I love the crisp, cold air, making snowmen and not having to wash baked bugs off the windshield. I spent one Christmas visiting my sister in Alameda, CA, and there's something wrong about donning shorts and a tee shirt and walking on the beach on Christmas Eve day! Nope - I couldn't live in a one-season state.

My FAVORITE time of the year is summer. I LOVE the sunshine, higher temps and a nice breeze... and NOT just because it's better than -25 degrees. I've always been a warmer weather person. Winter is OK, but I'd rather just throw on a pair of flip-flops and head out the door. In the winter it's dressing in layers, getting the winter coat, hat, gloves, scarf, ICK! Bring on summer!

I moved back to Wisconsin from SoCal because I missed the seasons. My favorite season is Autumn, then Spring. Yet I find the older I get, the colder I get....

Probably some of both! :) I like autumn here best too, then spring. But certainly winter always comes in last for me.
