Before I'm bashed by all the Packer backers out there, let me first say this.  I love Brett Favre.  You can ask Robb Vogel about my sometimes unhealthy obsession with him and how I immediately went into mourning the week he retired.

With that said, I'm sick and tired of all these rumors floating around and wish Favre would do exactly what he said he was going to do during retirement, "Nothing."

When Favre made an appearance on "The David Letterman Show" a couple months ago, he mentioned that "something" will happen around the time NFL Training Camp begins.  Of course, the national media blew this out of proportion because Brett Favre is to ESPN what Britney Spears is to TMZ, every little thing they say or do is magnified ten-thousand times more than it needs to be.  Then last week, ESPN's Chris Mortensen hears from a Packers "source" that Favre has an "itch" to come back and has talked to team officials about a possible return.  That set off a frenzy of rumors in which the likes of Brett's mom, brother, and Al Harris made comments to the media that certainly did not dismiss the idea of Favre returning.  Meanwhile, all we have heard from Brett is a text message that he sent to a print writer in Biloxi, Mississippi that simply stated, "It's all rumor."

Brett, do us all a favor; if you do have an itch, scratch it and be done with it.  Don't get me wrong, I was shocked that Favre chose to retire this off-season rather than try to make another run to the Super Bowl with pretty much the exact same team that nearly reached that point last season and would love to see him back under center in Green Bay.  But at this point of the game, Favre needs to stay true to his tearful good-bye.

The keys in Green Bay have been handed to Aaron Rodgers who has patiently waited three years for his opportunity.  He has taken every step in the right direction this off-season to become the new leader of the Pack, and to be completely sympathetic, I feel terrible for him.  A-Rodg has to be sick and tired of hearing questions about replacing Favre and now this happens three-and-a-half weeks before Training Camp begins and will certainly be bombarded with even more questions regarding his predecessor in the up-coming weeks.  Now I'm not saying that the Packers are better off with Rodgers at quarterback than Favre, but number four chose to hang it up and it needs to stay that way for the best interest of all parties involved.

However, the worst part of this whole situation is how I have to hear about Favre possibly stepping onto the field for a team other than the Packers.  Let me just say this, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!  Packers GM Ted Thompson would have to go into hiding in Green Bay if he were to allow Favre to sign with another team or trade him.  Plus, the thought of Favre is anything other than a green and gold jersey makes me nauseas and I wouldn't be able to handle it.  He's not going to Chicago or Minnesota.  He wouldn't return to play for a terrible Atlanta team.  So please, stop even bringing up the possibility.

Even though I, like Harris, would welcome Favre back with open arms, the unattached sports fan in me thinks he needs to keep quiet about anything "return" related and make sure that lawn on his Mississippi property is evenly mowed.

After the news talk I did noy hear anyone ask Mike if he personally wanted Brett back as a Packer, Does Mark want him back? Does Ted want him back? Someone should ask that hard question of each of them don't you think? I would like to know.

Ted Thompson should be fired. Why would a team NOT want a quarterback of Brett Farve's caliber?

How about changing your blog title to "Go Home Brett" (before you embarrass yourself anymore than you already have.)

Brett retired I think he needs to stay retired. He is making Green Bay look like the bad guys. As one football player put it, at the end of the day HE is the one who left Green Bay packer in limbo and than retired. I say he should stay retired! Sometime you make a choice and you have to live with it.

Oh! Joy of Joy, I heard from Leigh and John and the gang last night that the commisioner of the NFL said poop or get off the TV to both boohoo and the Packers org! Yes! Trade him! I want to see him in viking's purple, b/c that is the color the restof his body will be after the GB defense pounds his traitorous butt into the ground, time and time again! People think if he joins another team, they will be superbowl bound... what they forget is Brett wasn't the team! We have awesome receivers to catch the miserable crap that side slinging slophouse prostitute throws! this man lost any integrity he had with this latest media circus game he played! I love how even Bellport told him to shut up on air one morning!

Amen! Flunk Favre! All those packer fans want to worship a hero leading to the promised land (that comment alone made me want to puke- comparing biblical ref. to Favre!) go hug a teacher, cop, firefighter, soldier, grocery store clerk- people who work all year round to provide services. sports are entertainment, that's all & farthead boo-hooed his good-bye when he quit, yes packer fans, he quit! There was no one standing behind him w/ gun to his head saying "say this or die!" so get over yourselves already. your interception record setting crybaby hero chose to quit, before his legally signed contract was completed. I also think they should charge him network ad rates for the time on local/ national TV where we had to watch all that bull poop legacy coverage crap, & repeats of his "emotional good bye speech"! Actually, I think TV should show him boo-hooing every time he talks about coming back, and put "LIAR!" on the screen!!

I'm SO with you. He's saying one thing - but doing another... having a two-year old temper tantrum about not getting his place back. Grow up Brett. Stand by your decision. All of us understand making decisions we regret. Everyone's done it! But don't percieve the Packers invitation to play next to Aaron Rodgers as second place. Be a first place player and first class guy... either let it go or agree to contribute to the team and continue to play a game you say you love. No matter what capacity it might be in. Be glad there's still room at the table. Don't gripe because someone else is sitting in your seat.

I don't have a problem with Favre changing his mind, but I do have a problem with him speaking indirectly through the likes of his mom & brothers, Bus Cook, Chris Mortensen, and Al Jones. Call a news conference, release a statement, but do something that states your intentions. Beyond that, hire a career counselor and figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life. The people holding rallies outside Lambeau Field to pressure the organization to "Bring Back Brett" are in need of counseling as well...psychological counseling.

After reading about his request to be released, a I can say is I hope he fails on his face BIG TIME!! What a douche bag!!

You seem really upset about this. I would just like to know how hard you would puke if you saw him run out onto the field in August in a Vikings jersey? I vote you re-air the 101 of how to mow a lawn... P.S. Go Brewers

While I agree I do feel sorry for A-Rodg, I also think that its number 4 not number 12 that has the best chance to lead the Pack to the promise land. He is proven pro-bowl type QB, with a desire to play the game again....give him a shot

Screw Favre!! The Packers should release him. Let him play for New Orleans so he can be close to home. I am SO SICK of hearing about his retirement. He has mentioned retiring since they won the Super Bowl. Last years season was a fluke. Very soft schedule. Yes, they did beat the Chargers and Giants early in the season but both teams were awful at that time. They will go 9-7 this year with or without Favre. Rogers may not win games for the Packers like Favre but he won't lose games like Favre did. Go away Favre!
