It is not very often that I solicit advice on my appearance. But since the nature of my job puts my face in your living room every weeknight, I am interested in knowing what you think about my new glasses.

I never thought prescription glasses would make that big of a difference for me, since I can drive legally without them and have been told my whole life that I don’t need them.  I am nearsighted -- my left eye is better than my right one. But I recently found out I have an astigmatism in one eye, which can make it harder to drive at night.

So I bought a pair of glasses after a recommendation from my eye doctor, and I find myself wanting to wear them more often that not. Now I face a new decision: to wear my glasses or invest in contacts and have the option of wearing either.

I’d like to know what you think! Here is a shot of me on the news desk with glasses and one without. Are the glasses distracting? Or do you like the change?

Don’t worry, it won’t hurt my feelings either way. And thanks for your thoughts! =)

Leigh

Ms. Mills, you are the best person to make this decision! Either way, you still are an excellent news anchorwoman with style, sass and dynamite. With David's prediction of high winds tomorrow, you may have to wear a colorful, matching babushka to keep your hair in place!

Leigh, I like you either way-but if pressed, I'd have to say no glasses.

I started with glasses at a young age and wanted contacts because they were "cool". I wore contacts for a long time and was really good about taking them out every night and not wearing them longer than the recommended hours. I can no longer wear contacts for more than 2 hours because my eyes dry out so badly the contacts fall out. I am back in glasses again and have a couple different pairs that I wear regularly. I think they are a fashion accessory! I also see better with glasses on than I did with contacts and I have an astigmatism as well.

Leigh- having been sighted most of my life, then losing my sight, I have to say to hell with popularity polling! Do what makes easiest for you to do your job, to see what you want/ need to see, and just remember... you have to touch your contacts and then put them in your yeyes... great way to get an eye infection, or scratch the lens of your eye if the lens gets a speck of dirt in it between your case and your eye... or contact lenses can tear (soft lenses have been known to do this), and when biking, you'll need to carry cleaner, etc. with glasses, you have a hard barrier protecting your eye from impacts... one last thing- in the past, people exposed to bright sparks (electrical workers, welders, etc.( have been in proximity of bright sparks and had their lenses "welded" to their corneas! (requiring a cornea transplant to correct their blindness)... never heard of someone having their glasses welded to their face, have you?

Leigh, I must say I find you incredibly hot with the glasses on.

I was surprised when I first saw you wearing glasses, but you are very attractive and sexy looking either way. I do prefer the dark, heavier rimmed ones better than the ones pictured below. After all is said and done, do what's best for you.

Leigh, you look very professional either way, but the glasses look great! Keep them.

I can't imagine people telling you not to wear them when you need them to see. I've worn glasses since I was 15 (73 now) and tried contacts but they didn't work for me. I thought the glasses looked nice.

Well, Christine of Madison, if the librarians out there look like Leigh, I'm going to hang out at the library more.
