An UPDATED look at the top 5 snowiest seasons in Madison!

1. 2007-2008 --  101.2" (as of 4-9-08)

2. 1978-1979  -- 76.1"

3. 1885-1886  -- 75.9"

4. 1993-1994 --  73.7"

5. 1985-1986  -- 72.4"

And just because it's interesting... from 1967-1968 Madison only recorded 12.7" of snow... the LEAST amount on record!

What do YOU think of all this snow?  Any words come to mind to describe this incredible, record breaking snow season?  For me... it's TOUGH.

Bundle up, stay warm and we’ll see you Saturday and Sunday mornings!

Growing up in the southeast and moving to Wisconsin 4 yrs ago, I have found total appreciation for not only the snow(glorious) but everything that comes with it! Knowing that spring is on the way gives me an added appreciation for its unique beauty!

To answer your question... snow cover is tracked in Madison. The snow depth right now (2-29-08) is 14" and yes, we have had continuous snow cover since the beginning of December. But, as we warm and cool, the snow depth will change, especially this weekend as we're looking to be well above the freezing mark with rain. Hope that helps!

Wondering if snow coverage is tracked in Madison? Seems like we've had at least an inch on the ground since Dec.

Thank you for your wonderful piece on the Potosi Brewery. It was more than I had expected. It was a pleasure working with you. By the way, the brewery facility will probably be opened only on a limited basis starteng in April (on Saturdays). The entire complex will be opened on a regular basis starting in June. As an aside, for the preview opening, 800 or more were in attendance.

We are SICK of all the SNOW. Do to all the fluffy stuff we have to make up a day at the end of the school year because we used all three snowdays and we had a total of four snowdays. Our parents are sick of shoveling and driving to work on dangerous roads full of ice. However, being kids living in Wisconsin we LOVE the snow (well at least we do). Our favorite winter activity is sleding down our school's hill, which is huge and fun to go down but it is a pain to climb up to the top.We hope it will go away soon but then we will have a flood in our basement (KAWABUNGA! SURF'S UP DUDE!)that we will have to help cean. So please keep on sending the smow Mr. Charlie Shortino! P.S. in small amount please so we don't have any more snowdays. We however would love late starts or early dismissles. We love the show! Bye!

I TRY NOT TO THINK ABOUT ALL THIS SNOW!!!!

Move to az, it's wonderful. Today we have 60 degrees. I know people will say they can't take the heat, but give me 105 degrees and almost zip humidity over 95 degrees and dew points of 74 anyday. We live in Northern AZ, I wouldn't enjoy Phoenix congestion and pollution.

Hi Michelle, Is there a web site that shows daily snow totals by day for this winter. I'm new at my job of shoveling the neighbors driveway and I missed a couple days last week I think. Can you help? Thanks...Bobby

Jimmy the groundhog predicted an early spring. I think your forecasting job is safe Michelle.

I wrote a poem about the snow. It is white and fluffie with lots of mite I think it should go away and not come back again. Sometimes it is pretty but not always nifty. I like to make snowballs when there are flakes that falls winter will be over some day until then lets go play My dog likes to run in the snow for fun One time I fell on a sidewalk and hurt my hip.
