I've added two pictures.  The one on the left is me, with my folks, with my red hair.  The one on the right is the only digital photo I have of me with shorter, spikier hair.  Aparently I was short and spikey before getting a digital camera!  :-)   Enjoy.

---------

Throughout high school, I always looked the same, long, bleach blond hair down to the middle of my back... no frills.  By my sophomore year of college I began experimenting with different hairstyles and makeup.  (I was always more of a tom-boy).  My first cut was shoulder length, I was going for the Jennifer Aniston hair-do like so many other girls my age.  My hair was much darker at this point and I often was told I looked like Ashley Judd.  From there, I got more brave, I cut my hair so it was about 2" long and spiky.  That time I even experimented with color.  When I got to my waitressing job later that afternoon, I was told I looked like Meg Ryan and/or Natalie Maines.  (Lead singer of the Dixie Chicks).  After a few months, I got tired of wearing a hat and feeling like a boy, so I grew it back it out and stuck with one color, honey blond.

It wasn't until I got into TV that I realized I had to keep my hair looking nearly the same.  Still, I've gone through some changes since.  When I moved to Oregon, my boss there made me dye my hair red.  Ew! I hated it and it was my least favorite color.  But, the two year contract I signed said I pretty much had to do whatever he asked.  So, as you can imagine, when I got the job here at NBC 15, they liked my blond hair and I've got to keep it for 3 years.  It's been shorter and longer, but I am happiest now with the cut.  (Although I still struggle with wanting to make drastic changes now and then).

So, I told you all that to tell you the other day I was told I look like Mary Chapin Carpenter.  The nice lady came up to me and said, "I bet you hear this all the time, but you look just like Mary Chapin Carpenter."  I looked stunned, as I do not hear that often, nor could I quickly pull up a mental image of Mary, so she followed up with, "And that is a compliment, I think she's just beautiful."  I thanked her and nonetheless it got me thinking... who do I look like?  When my hair was longer, with a little more brown in it, I was told a few times I looked like Sara Evans.  (She's a country music singer).  I guess these days I don't feel like I look like anyone in particular.

So, who do people tell you, you look like?  Do you agree with the Mary Chapin Carpenter assessment?

P.S. - Dan always gets told he looks like Ed Helms , the guy from NBC's The Office.  However, I don't see it.

Love the shorter hair in the pic on the right! Definitely gives you a different look than the long blonde! :) I do think they are both nice, though... you are lucky to be able to pull off such different looks. :)

The shorter, spikier hair really brings out your blue eyes. Looks like that picture was from waitressing days?? since the logo on your shirt is the same as the reverse logo on the window behind you. Hey, at least your parents can be glad you didn't go for the Dennis Rodman look. Seriously though Michelle as I've said before, do you ever take a bad looking picture?

Mary Chapin Carpenter is my favorite! I never thought about it before, but now that you mention it you definitely do look like her some. :)

When I have my head shaved I get told all the time that I look like Sinead O'Connor. I can kind of see it, and I think it's such a compliment because she's got such a beautiful face. Now that I'm growing my hair out, however, I think I just look like how I expect myself to look.

Alan forgets that when he HAD hair, he was told he looked like Richard Dean Anderson.(McGyver)

Hmmm... I've been told that I look like Cheech Marin in his "Nice Dreams" and other movies days... vs. the more distinguished look he has now as he has aged. People often ask me if I have middle eastern or hispanic heritage. Of course, my sister has often told me I look like crap, my ex wife tells me I look like hell, my neighbor has told me I look like "something the guide dog dragged in, and that is NOT a compliment!". no matter what Michelle, you will always sound like Michelle to me!

My dad, a Lt. Colonel in the army was told in his prime that he looked just like a young James Stewart (insert "It's a Wonderful Life" image here). He nabbed a real looker for a wife, my mother who's earlier pictures look just like Kate Beckinsale, the actress who played opposite Ben Affleck in the 2001 movie "Pearl Harbor". So you do the genetic visuals...... Either that or I have a striking resemblance to Archie or Jughead, take your pick.

when I was in college and barteneded I got told CONSTANTLY that I look like Sandra Bullock... I really think it was my dark long hair and funny attitude that made people say it b/c I don't really think I look like her... although I heard it constantly!

A local store mixes up myself and a neighbor of mine once in a while. It's kinda funny! I don't see you as looking like anyone except yourself. Any chance you'd be willing to post those red-hair and spikey-hair pictures? It will help us appreciate how you look now even more.

But I haven't met that person! I'm constantly getting the "You look familiar" comment. Then people ask if I used to work at their doctor's off; dated their cousin; related to a specific person; and the list goes on. I've got a look a like somewhere but I don't know where or who!

Michelle- Nobody famous really comes to mind. Then again, I had a hard time putting a face to many of the names that you mentioned (yeah, I am out of the mainstream.) Too much time in academia tends to make you lose touch with the rest of the world. I have been told that I look like Clark Kent and once someone thought I was Randy Wright, the former Badger and Packer QB. I thought that was cool!

In high school (which was back in the late 90's) I was told a lot that I looked like Jennifer Anniston, which I took as a compliment!
