I'll never forget September 11th, 2001. I was in my 2nd year of college, hanging out at my apartment when my roommate called me coming back from class and told me what was going on. He was in such shock I could barely understand what he was trying to tell me, but obviously I got the point. I immediately turned on my TV, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I instantly thought what kind of a world is this we are living in? 9/11 also happens to be my birthday, so as I got calls from friends and family the attacks were the hot topic of conversation. I probably spent more time on the phone that day then I ever have. It's amazing to think that 8 years have gone by since then. I remember it all so vividly. On this day I think it's important for people to remember not so much the attacks, but the way they seemingly brought all of us together. Shortly after all the madness Red, White, and Blue flags flew in greater numbers than ever,and people pitched in to help those hit hardest. That kind of thing shouldn't only happen after extreme situations, but rather every day of every year. We are all truly fortunate to live where we do.
