As a mother of only two children, not eight, I don't know whether to dislike or feel sorry for the couple. Their contract with the cable network TLC means they have to keep going with the reality show, but seriously? During a separation with eight small kids? Would you be willing to never know the ending for the sake of that family's mental health? I would rather never hear their names and hope they would be more likely to work things out because they are taken out of the public eye. |

Please can we all put a ban on jon and kate??? We do not need to see them in the media or anywhere else. Please stop giving them the attention they so desperately want. BAN ANYTHING JON AND KATE. Posted by: Gizmo Location: Portage Sarah, if I was paid $75K per episode, I'd sing the Minnesota Rouser fight song in my birthday suit while doused with lutefisk. This is all $ driven and folks luv a good train wreck. Keep reporting on it - it's a nice diversion from a struggling economy. Posted by: Jay Location: Madison I enjoy hearing about Jon and Kate about as much as I like hearing about people from The Hills or American Idol. Enough already! Posted by: Mike Location: Madison As a divorced father of a teenager, I can say that if the parents are squabling, the children will be in the middle no matter what. only reasonable adults agreeing to do the best for the children despite the divorce, and co-parent and problem solve together can keep a child in a good place, besides the middle. I think the courts should order a guardian ad litem, or attorney whose only job is to defend the best interests, and rights of the children, despite what either parent says to the contrary. if the GAL disagrees with a plan, or request, then a judge hears all three sides and decides. mom, dad, and the kid's point of view, so to speak. that is my prayer so the children don't get exploited! sometimes the fairy tale ends. I think with people in WI dying in record numbers by drunk drivers, scientific discovery of treatments for diseases- do we really need "reality" TV? does anyone remember when NBC was Must See" TV? these days all TV (except, of course, NBC15 news) is Must avoid TV! Posted by: Deb Location: wi I think they had these kids because they had this plan to go on TV. Doctors should be aware that there are a lot of crazy, selfish people out there. Posted by: Dave Location: Madison I just can't believe that there isn't more done to protect children on this show and others that feature average kids or kid actors. Jon and Kate continue to say they are doing this for their children, however, I have to believe they didn't mind getting the $1 million home and all of the freebies provided by sponsors, not to mention no working. Unreal, America needs to turn off these shows, spend more time with their own families and get back to the true reality that we have the opportunity to live each day. Posted by: My husband and I had a discussion... We agreed that if we couldn't have children, we would NOT go through infertiility treatments. It's so costly, plus the risk of mulitples is huge, and the expense of raising a family afterwards is outrageous! My husband and I had the discussion that if we couldn't have children, we were OK with that. We want to have a nice, private life and feel financially sound. Jon and Kate...... did they think about this before they underwent 2 rounds of infertility treatments? Posted by: Agree Here's my thinking: I'm sure Jon and Kate were having tremendous marital problems before the show started. With having a set of twins age 3(?) and then the sextuplets as babies, what marriage wouldn't be strained with stress of all those kids? Then I can GUARANTEE this couple was flat-busted broke- feeding and clothing a family of 10 is expensive! When TLC came along, Jon and Kate saw dollar signs. I heard they get $50,000 per EPISODE! I think for awhile Jon and Kate were happy because they now had some $$$$$$$$ to flaunt around, a better life, and Jon could stay home. Then the show really took off. The stress of being in the public eye got the best of them. Jon seems like he's a kid himself. Plus Kate is so controlling... that didn't help things, either. I'm sure Kate thought she had 9 kids instead of 8. Anyways, it's very sad those 8 children had to be in the middle of this mess. Now they're going to grow up with the stigma of being the family who fell apart right before your TV set. Posted by: Gizmo Location: Portage I give up. Is this the sequel to 'Kate and Allie'? In all seriousness, very sad for the kids. Posted by: Anonymous I don't care for this show at all. I felt that the two parent all they did was tell each other what to do and were not happy from the beginning. I feel so sorry for all those kids. That's all they know is having a camera in their face and having everything. Now the parents are splitting, how do you think these kids are going to act or turn out? I hope that they are counseling everyone. Posted by: Sara Location: Madison I think that there can be a mixture of sympathy and dislike for Jon and Kate. Sympathy because divorce is never a happy situation, but it's even worse when there are children involved. Dislike because keeping their children in the public eye through their TV show is bordering on exploitation, which is never acceptable. I can say with complete honesty that I wouldn't be sad if I never heard their names again. On a side note, it's kind of an interesting statement about society that we are so captivated by this family and their struggles that even airtime on a local newscast (or any newscast, really) is given to them. Posted by: Won't Watch Anymore Honestly, its too painful to watch a family that so many people have fallen in love with evaporate before our eyes. When the show first started it was all cutesy-wutesy with the 6 toddlers and the twins, but now its just too dramatic. No one wants to watch a family fall apart. I think we all know, or have known, someone who has gone through that and its not fun for anyone involved. I say TLC should pull the plug and let them hash out their issues behind closed doors. Posted by: Actually... Location: Madison Actually TLC has halted production on the show. There is one more episode (filled with unseen footage) and then there won't be another new one until August. I'm glad TLC is taking it among themselves to stop this feeding frenzy. What is it with the American pulic today? Everyone wants to see a trainwreck. Then again there are a lot of people willing to be that trainwreck if it means fame. I'm sorry but that is why you DO NOT have 8 kids... let alone 6 of them at one time. Posted by: Packer Fan Location: WI It really doesn't bother me because, like the Favre mess, I really don't care what happens anymore. I think it is called overkill. |
