I just found a GREAT write-up comparing DTV antennas.  If you have intermittent reception on an indoor antenna, this might be helpful.

Also check out the links on that page for more in-depth reviews, and how to build your own antenna in you're so inclined.

Boy do I feel better! I thought it was me or my location. I can get Channel 15, intermittently, during the day but NEVER at night. It would have been nice to see Steve Stricker win the golf tournament today as Rfd had MD fund-raiser on their station. Also, some nights I get lots of weird stations - even got WGN Chicago one night.

I also have the problem with this station. All the other stations come in just fine. In fact, channel 15 also used to come in just fine (before 6/15). This is sooooo frustrating. And I only live 2 miles from the station. There is DEFINITELY something wrong with this picture.

since june 12 or so we no longer get channel 15 .it came in perfect on the converter box until then all other madison stations are perfect.except channel 15.whats wrong we rescaned and everthing.

Analog 15 and then later digital 15 used to come in great, now we get a low or weak signal. Any ideas? I have a standard roof mounted antenna that gets all other stations great. We are on the highest point in Dodgeville, and Dodgeville is the on one of the highest points in the region.

We do get channel 15, and all the other channels, but they keep breaking up.channel 15 turns black and says no program or weak signal, I talked to a man at channel 27 and they are going to boast there power which will be done with by this weekend. Hope all the other Madison channels do something soon, we watch a lot of channel 15, and this is getting frustrating.

Are there any local companies (electronic, individual electricians, etc.) that install outdoor roof-top or pole mounted television antennas? Thanks in advance for any and all help/replies. -- Mike

I get all Madison channels except 15 and 57! I had to remove signal boosters to get them in well. 57 does come in weakly but 15 is just no signal period. The remaining channels boom in here! What to do??? Thanks Jack Stroebel

I do not have cable but have a brand new compliant TV. I get all the other channels fine & even an additional one added by WKOW. I have a strong indoor antenna, have rescanned my new tv and still am unable to get WMTV. Can you please help me. I would love to be able to watch your programming again.

Hi Tom, I heard a rumor that channel 15 is going to boost the power somehow on digital. ( I,too, cannot get ch.15 but I do get all the rest of the digital channels.)Is there anything to this rumor? I sure do hope so.

We have been receiving 15 for forever. Until a few days ago, about 3-12-09, we stopped getting the station. 57-1 comes in clear, but 15-1 and 15-2 have no signal. It did come in after the switch to digital, so i don't think that the converter box or our antenna is the problem. Any suggestions?

we always watched channel 15 before we got that new box. we can no longer get it, we are a little upset!!!!!

We had an old 14" TV and it worked fine on the converter picking up both Madison & Rockford stations until the converter failed. Instead of buying another converter, we bought a TV with a digital tuner and only get 2 Rockford channels and no Madison. Could the new digital TV require a stronger signal than the old tube? Should we expect an increase in signal strength as time goes on?

Cannot view channel 15 -- antenna web has your freq at 19 -- either way cannot view your station - what is going on ?

Posted by: Diana Location: Rockford
I have a Zenith converter box and a $10 VHF/UHF antenna. I get channels 15.1 and 15.2 most of the time plus the other Madison channels. I get analog channel 47. It's a little fuzzy, but it works better now that I stopped using the rabbit ears. I get better reception using only the loop antenna. I couldn't get channel 11 anyway which needs the rabbit ears for reception. As long as the converter box keeps working, I'll be happy with the change. I just don't watch TV during a storm. One converter box I had stopped working doing that.

I get all stations except channel 15. Com'on now and step up to the plate or are they just 3rd rate.

Sometimes get 15 clear and other times rcv. message "no signal" and has often just blacked out in the middle of a program. I have a tower antenna and get channel 3,27, 47, 20 all clear. Gail

It's good to know that I am not the only one who cannot get my favorite Channel 15! I too have tried different antenna's, locations and everything else I can think of. Absolutely no signal. Any help available???

We have a tv w/ the converter box and one that is ready. I have several friends in Poynette (including myself) that can NOT get channel 15. What is the problem?

Posted by: Teresa Location: north of Poynette
we have both a digital tv and a converter box. We're getting all the channels, but 3, 15 and 27 all break up digitally and the sound garbles. 47 is good and it's on the same tower as yours? We have a rooftop antenna and live in a rural location. Is this an antenna issue?

Posted by: Nan Location: Baraboo
Before the digital switch, we only received channel 15 air, now we see no channel 15 at all with our digital tvs or with the converter box. Is it the antenna or some other problem with digital reception?

Posted by: Irene/Walter R. Vogt Location: Watertown, WI
we have an older rooftop antenna and a new HDTV(Sansui) with a built-in digital tuner, what else do we need to be able to be able to receive your station since it converted?

Posted by: Adam Location: Monroe
We use an antenna and pick up every Madison station (as well as Rockford) with our converter box except for 15. Before the switch we received 15, but the visual and audio quality was spotty at best. After the switch, we don't even pick up the signal. I thought power was going to be added? Before the rain and snow came, I even adjusted my antenna to no avail. All that did was have me lose the Rockford stations. NBC 15 was by far our favorite station, and now we don't get it. We live on a hill and our converter box is the RCA one. Any advice or power updates?

As of this morning we are no longer getting the local channel 15, 15-1 and 15-2 are both just news, no programming.

Posted by: Thomas Location: United States
We are having a hard time receiving channel 15,while channel 57 comes in pretty well. You both come from the same tower,why the difference? Just spent $250 on a new antenna and an amp. Will you increase power or change anything or is this it? Thank you.Thomas A. Shuster {from the Baraboo area}

We also received 15 on converter box, now only 15.2 and have an outdoor antenna. Any suggestions?

Cannot receive Channel 15 at all now. We have new HDTV and new Phillips antenna. Have played with positioning of antenna and get nothing. This is our favorite station! Help!

I hooked up my converter this evening - channels 3, 21, 27, 47, 57 come in clear as a bell - I cannot get channel 15 - I watch morning news and 15 has been my favorite for longer than I can remember - what can I do to get channel 15?!?!

Susan in Ithaca: Are you seeing any La Crosse stations where you are? WXOW-TV in La Crosse is on channel 19, the same as our digital broadcast. Your reception will (hopefully) clear up when their analog station signs off, which I understand will be in mid-April.

Steve on the east side: no change here, have you tried any antenna adjustments? Indoor or outdoor antenna?

Posted by: Susan Location: Ithaca, WI
We also were receiving 15 on our converter box and have now lost that signal. No one seems to know why. Any clue?

Posted by: Tom Weeden Location: WMTV
Ted, our tower is on the Beltline halfway between Whitney Way and Gammon Road. Channels 15 and 57 are on that tower. All the other stations are on the tower near Mineral Point Road and Highway M.

Where should I aim my antenna to get NBC15? (Where is the signal coming from?) Thanks.

Posted by: Tom Weeden Location: WMTV
Zach in Waunakee: what kind of antenna are you using? If it's indoors you may just need to relocate it somewhat. You should have plenty of signal there.

Posted by: Zach Location: Waunakee, WI
I have switched over to digital recently and the only channel i can't get to come in is channel 15. (I have tried 19,11, etc. and none of those work). What is the problem and how do i fix it?

Posted by: Steve Location: East Madison
Our NBC15 over the air signal seems to have gotten much worse the past two or three days. Has something changed with the signal, Is it the weather, what could be wrong? The signal had been good. Other stations still come in about the same.

Ray in Lake Mills: we have been broadcasting in digital since April 2001. You'll need to adjust/improve your antenna...

Posted by: Ray Location: Lake Mills
We have a converter box,but for some reason all we get at 15 is 'no signal" are you broadcasting in digital?

Posted by: Sherry Location: Janesville
We hooked up the Converter box (with rabbit ears) and we lost channel 15, 39, 47, and 57, which we could get in before and now our DVD player doesn't work. We had a modulator box, and everything is hooked up into the converter box exactly like it was into the modulator, and the VCR works, but we lost all those stations and the DVD player. We have done everything as it says in the book online and according to the woman on the phone (at Zenith) and nothing. How can we lose the Madison stations when we're only 30 miles from there?? HELP!
