A lot of couples get engaged to be married over the holidays. But one local couple did it in a pretty unique way.

Jeremy Heesen isn't a movie star. But when the Janesville native popped up on the big screen, the love of his life Jessica Simons couldn't believe it.

“I was thinking I was coming to see The Hobbit and it turned out to not be The Hobbit,” Jessica laughs.

The couple have been dating for more than a year and when Jeremy decided he wanted to propose, he came up with a blockbuster of an idea.

"I'm going to get her friends to take her to the movie theater and the normal movie previews are going to start but instead it's going to be a movie preview showing me asking you if I can marry your daughter," Jeremy explains to Jessica's dad in the video.
His friends over at Drywater Productions helped out.

“It's been months with all the logistics, getting all the actors together on the same day,”

Keeping Jessica from catching on was tough.

“The hiding it, I got used to hiding it,” Jeremy jokes. “I got used to the lies,”

But the secret stayed safe.

“I had no idea!” says Jessica.

After filming at the Star Cinema in Fitchburg, the six-minute YouTube video was ready for it's big premiere

“I was just like could that be?” Jessica says recanting her reaction to watching the video. “And then I saw Jeremy,”

Jeremy frantically rushes into the movie complex as the preview ends. Then Jeremy shows up in the theater for a live performance.

“Jessica I love you and I can't imagine spending the rest of my life without you so, with God as our cornerstone, will you marry me?” Jeremy asks.

“YES!” Jessica exclaims.
“I was just totally shocked I'm still trying to take it all in,”
Jeremy is relieved everything when off without a hitch

“Man, it was stressful today!” Jeremy says very matter-of-factly.

And now this couple can begin writing their own script together.
“There is never a dull moment,” says Jessica.
