New Habitat for Humanity Project

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- There's now another place for Wisconsin residents to take their unwanted electronics.

The Habitat for Humanity's stores, called ReStores, are now accepting electronic donations.

The pieces will generate income for Habitat for Humanity's effort to provide decent housing to low-income families.

Appleton ReStore Manager Matthew Daniels says they can reuse materials contained in hard drives, monitors, and other components to generate revenue.

The computer hard drives will be erased according to U.S. Defense Department standards.

A state law bans many electronics from Wisconsin landfills and incinerators.
