RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (NBC News)---The first Olympic ticket store opened in Rio de Janeiro Monday.
Tickets for the August games were already available online, but starting Monday they were also on sale at ticket offices in two Rio shopping malls.
In the next few weeks, Rio 2016 officials will open 30 ticketing centers in Rio, Sao Paulo, Salvador, Brasilia and Manaus, where soccer matches will take place.
Rio 2016 Ticketing Director Donovan Ferreti says there are still 1.8 million tickets available.
Prices start at around $12, though customers purchasing tickets on Monday said prices for some final events reached the several hundred-dollar range.
