WOW People you just dont get it do you? The point is she was alone at 2am downtown. No notes of being drunk but was she? Too early for an employee of the bar. My point is NOT to hide but to think about what can happen! Sheesh!

Glad he was caught and the girl [victim] was able to get away to get help. Wonder if he was the same guy who walked into the camden road location and assulted that person [her door was unlocked in daylight].

For the record she was at home and the guy broke in... that's one place you should be able to feel safe! Besides, walking at 2 am doesn't give anyone the right to assault you!

I am disgusted at Brenda what an ignorant pig you must be! I am suprised NBC put this up. It is never the victims fault how dare you to even say that.

When I am out late, I try to stay safe, walk or get a ride with friends, if I can, I carry pepper spray with me, I try to be aware of my surroundings. But why are we blaming people who are out late at night? We should all be able to be out late without being worried for our safety! What about cracking down on predators instead? Like the others pointed out, given the daytime murders of Marino and Zimmerman - what are we all supposed to do? Hide under a desk all day long? What if that young lady was just getting off her shift at work? What's she supposed to do, not go to work so she doesn't have to go home late at night?

Her only point was: It's stupid to be out at that hour. With that same thought process, looking at the Marino/Zimmerman murders would lead one to believe that it'd be stupid to stay home during the day. I agree, one assault is too many. And people should be cautious. But Brenda's comment was alarmist, my comment was intended to highlight that.

Burt: Lighten up. Brenda does make some valid point. Besides, it's not about how many DID NOT get assaulted, in my eyes, ONE is too many. Ladies, if you must be out at that time of night, or any other time for that matter, be in GROUPS! Remember, safety in numbers!!

Yeah Brenda, let's all cower in our homes because there are bad guys out there. How many women were out at that hour and DIDN'T get assaulted? I'll bet it was more than one, more than ten, maybe even more than 100. And how many women were out at that time on nights in the previous weeks and months without being assaulted? YOU stay home and hide. But look out, there was a story about a home invasion some time ago. They might get you there too. Better just go to the moon I guess, no crime there...yet.

I feel bad, but not THAT bad! How many times has this happened?????? You're alone downtown with how many reports of issues, attempted rapes, etc at 2AM!!! REALLY???! What do you think can happen? All I can say is stupid is as stupid does! I'm glad the perp was arrested! BUT, fight girl and bite... leave marks. BETTER YET be home and not out at this hour!

What a surprise, he is from Milwaukee! Did he get here on the train?

I hope she's doing okay, and is getting all the help and support she needs. And I hope the criminal gets the maximum punishment allowed. Good for her for being able to describe the guy to police. I would hope I'd have the clarity of mind in a bad situation.
