Press Release from Green County Sheriff's Department:

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating eight (8) separate incidents where glass and/or screens were damaged at rural homes. It is believed that the homes were not occupied at the time the burglary and/or criminal damage occurred, and the homeowners are reporting that nothing was taken.

The incidents were reported and likely occurred between Thursday, November 18th and Saturday, the 21st, sometime between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. The eight homes are located within a four-mile radius of Monroe on the Township Roads of Greenbush, Center, Autumn Ridge, Advance and one occurred on County Trunk N.

A passenger car described as an older Oldsmobile similar to a mid-size Cutlass model, gray in color, had been observed leaving the area in one of the incidents. Residents are reminded that an empty house is a tempting target for a burglar. Some helpful tips to help safeguard your home while you are away are: ask a neighbor to watch your home, plug in timers to turn lights, radio or television on or off at appropriate times, turn the bell or ringer on your telephone down low, don’t announce your absence on an answering machine message, leave your blinds, shades and curtains in a normal position, close and lock your doors, including garage doors and windows.
