Some drivers without their vehicles this holiday... At least a dozen vehicles were targeted by a thief, who kept hitting the same target!
"Good morning, Cambridge Auto."
This is a good morning for Terry Mueller ... better than some the last few months.
Some days he would come to work to find vehicles busted or torn apart.
"Maybe once a year you'd get a radio swiped or something like that," he says, "This was a real epidemic."
Deputies say Mueller's shop was targeted about eight times.
"We got very good lights out there... When you come down hill... you can see area real easy."
But Mueller says at least a dozen cars outside were hit, including this one, which suffered about 800-dollars in damage...far more than the car's stereo is worth.
"They threw a rim through the back window .. took all door panels off to get speakers out .. and then stole the stereo equipment out of the trunk and they didn't take the radio 'cause it didn't have a face plate on it but they did a lot of damage to the vehicle."
In hopes of catching whoever was responsible, Terry and the investigators set up a bait car complete with a car stereo and camera, pointed directly at their target.
"The camera caught him actually finding the open door, got in the vehicle... then he got the trunk open .. walked around it and that's when we got a good picture of him."
And, deputies say, this is the man whose picture was taken -- 21-year-old Christopher Medina. The Cambridge man is facing four counts of criminal damage to property, two counts of possession of stolen property and theft.
"It's nice they actually did find who was doing it... so we're actually done with it now."
Deputies say Medina has admitted to some of the break-ins.
Deputies also say the investigation is ongoing. Medina - and possibly other people - could face more charges
