UPDATED Sunday, November 29, 2009 --- 8:15 p.m.
Release from the DeForest Police Department
At approximately 8:42 p.m. on November 28, 2009, the DeForest Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a white Ford Taurus for speeding and following too close. The officer initially attempted to conduct the traffic stop on East Holum Street in the Village of DeForest, when the driver, later identified as Greg Timler, M/W 4/16/1981, proceeded south on STH 51 at a high rate of speed.
Timler lead the DeForest Police on a high speed pursuit west along Vinburn Road and through a residential area on Meadowood Circle in the town of Winsor. The pursuit continued on Lake Road where the vehicle’s two front tires were punctured with pursuit spikes by the Dane County Sheriff’s Department, thus reducing the vehicle’s speed to 30-50 mph.
Timler continued to proceed onto the Interstate I90/94 and exited on to STH 51. Timler continued south on STH 51 where he was spiked again by the City of Madison Police Department, deflating his right rear tire. The pursuit ended in the 600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue after Timler’s vehicle became disabled. Timler fled the vehicle on foot and was quickly arrested in the 600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue.
After being transported to Meriter Hospital for a medical clearance and blood draw, Timler was booked into the Dane County Jail for felony fleeing an officer and cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, traveling 100 mph in a 35 mph zone, Auto Following to Close, with other charges pending. Timler admitted to using heroin and cocaine prior to the pursuit.

i also know greg. he is actually a good person, but has never been on the straight and narrow... ever. i wasnt surprised when i heard about this, just a little shocked knowing how much trouble he must be in. i hope he gets his act together from all of this, he is perfectly capable!
Wow, I clicked on this headline thinking I might know the person since I'm from Deforest and laughed at myself after thinking better of it. Turns out I went to school with him AND was good friends with him in middle school. High speed? Heroin? Really? Makes me so sad to know that he's ruining his life this way.
Me and a friend were in my car stopped at a stop sign about to go north on 51 when we saw the car chase!!!! it was so wicked!!! it was so cool to experience that! but the cops were great at getting him!
