Release from the Dane Co. Sheriff's Office:

Madison, WI. December 16, 2009 – Four LaFollette High School students walking home from school yesterday discovered a bag of goodies, and it doesn’t appear this bag belongs to Santa!

The students were walking from LaFollette to their subdivision just off Sprecher Road in the town of Blooming Grove. When the two boys and two girls took a back trail for a shortcut, they noticed a large drawstring bag lying in a brushy area off the trail. When they went to investigate, they discovered an array of computers and equipment, still in the original packaging. The value of the property is estimated to be in excess of $10,000.00.

The students took all the equipment back to one of their homes, explained what they found to their parents, and then called authorities.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person or persons who may be responsible for stashing the stolen property, and from where it may have been stolen. It is believed that the equipment had been placed there the same day it was found. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dane County tip line at 284-6900.
