From competitors--to teammates--in less than a day:
"We are united as a team here, as a team across the state," said Kathleen Falk. "It's time to move forward, we are going to move forward united and we are going to win in a very short time," said State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout. "Last night we took the first step to get Wisconsin back on the progressive tradition that we're all so proud of and I can't think of a better candidate than Tom to do that," said Secretary of State Doug La Follette.

Barrett called the Democratic primary campaign a model for civility.

Wednesday, his three challengers--Secretary of State Doug La Follette, State Senator Kathleen Vinehout and Former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk--joined him at his home to lend their support.
"Deliver the votes in our area and deliver the votes that our supporters have given us," said Sen. Vinehout. "It's all about votes. It's about getting our people to the polls and whatever it takes to get our people to the polls and all of their relatives that didn't vote, we need to start today."

"All four of us have spent a great deal of time traveling throughout the state of Wisconsin talking about the concerns that the people of this state have," said Barrett.

Even though the race is a re-match of the last gubernatorial contest, Barrett said 2010 is not 2012. "The major difference is people now have an understanding of Scott Walker's divide-and-conquer approach to government," he said. "We're going to talk about Scott Walker's record, he does not want to talk about his record, two years ago he didn't have a state record to talk about, now he has a state record."

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says all is well between him and the three candidates he defeated in a Democratic recall primary this week.

All four appeared together Wednesday in a symbolic show of unity. They said they're unified in their determination to beat Republican Gov. Scott Walker in next month's recall election.

The three defeated candidates took turns praising Barrett and his ability to repair the rift created by Walker.

While 670,000 people voted in the highly contested Democratic primary, the Republican primary in which Walker faced only token opposition drew a surprisingly high 646,000 voters.

Barrett says Democrats are "heartened" by their turnout, and says Walker raised so much money it's no surprise Republican turnout was also high. Barrett predicts Democratic unity will overcome the hefty GOP cash advantage.
