Only six days remain before voter registration "closes" for the November 6 election. The simplest way to register or update your voter registration is to visit any City of Madison library branch by October 17.

Voter registration applications can be submitted by mail if postmarked no later than October 17. The voter registration process can be started online through https://MyVote.wi.gov. First time Wisconsin voters registering by mail must also include proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, Wisconsin license/ID, paycheck, or government document).

Voters may register in the City Clerk's Office from 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, through 7 p.m. Friday, November 2. Anyone registering to vote during this closed registration period is required to show proof of address.

Voters may register at the polls on Election Day with proof of address. For more information, visit www.cityofmadison.com/election.

Check https://MyVote.wi.gov to verify your voter registration or the status of your absentee ballot.

The Madison City Clerk's Office has processed 48,751 voter registration applications so far this year.

MADISON--Voting itself seems pretty simple: choose your candidates; turn-in your ballot. But this election you've got several options on how to do that. One is already available to you, so you can vote today, if you want. "Ballots have been available since 47 days before the election, so back in middle of September," said GAB Director Kevin Kennedy.

Kennedy is talking about absentee voting. You can do that anytime between now and election day on November sixth--your ballot just has to be postmarked by election day and delivered by Friday the ninth. "That applies to all absentee ballots, not just those that are sent out of the country," he said.

Option number two: if you want to vote before election day, but don't want to mail your ballot in, you can vote in-person at your local clerk's office starting October 22nd. "You have a two week period between that Monday and the Friday before the election, November second to do the absentee voting," said Kennedy.

After that, your option is to vote at your polling place, on election day.
Not sure where your's is? Or who's on the ballot?Or even if you're registered to vote? The GAB is recommending you check out their website: myvote.wi.gov. "You can get information about absentee voting, you can check your voter registration status, you can see the location of your polling place and you can see who's going to be on the ballot for your choices," said Kennedy. "So it's a very good place for one-stop-shopping."

Even if you think you know your polling place, you may want to check out the website anyway: re-districting means your district may have changed. "This is the first time brand new legislative districts and congressional districts will be available for voting," said Kennedy.

Kennedy said if you're mailing-in your voter registration form, the deadline to do so is next Wednesday, the 17th.

After that, you can still register at your municipal clerk's office--or at your polling place.You will need to show a proof of residence.
