UPDATE: Spokesman Says Moore Will Run Again for House Seat

UPDATED Wednesday, May 1, 2013 --- 12:53 p.m.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore says she will be running for re-election in 2014 and is looking forward to a spirited debate about key issues with opponent Janet Hinz.

Hinz is a 42-year-old writing instructor at Cardinal Stritch University. She announced Wednesday that she will run as a Republican for the Milwaukee-area seat held by Moore, a Democrat.

Moore was elected to a fifth term in November representing the heavily-Democratic district in the House.

Her chief of staff, Minh Ta, says Moore is feeling excited and energized about her work after leading the charge this year to pass the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act reauthorization. Moore is 62.
