RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- The head of the Democratic National Committee says Republican Gov. Scott Walker needs to be recalled because he's following the agenda of right-wing interests, not the people of Wisconsin.
DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz rallied about 100 Democratic volunteers Wednesday in Racine. The Florida congresswoman urged them to "live, sleep and breathe" efforts to get voters to the polls Tuesday.
Afterward, reporters asked her about criticisms that the DNC was slow to support the recall effort. She says the DNC poured more than $1.5 million into the state to help gather recall signatures, engage volunteers and open campaign offices.
She says President Bill Clinton is also trying to sort out his schedule to arrange a visit before Tuesday's election.
Walker will face Democratic challenger Tom Barrett, the Milwaukee mayor.
