MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Eric Hovde has spent $4 million of his own money in the U.S. Senate race so far.
Filings with the Federal Election Commission released Tuesday show Hovde has contributed $3.75 million to his campaign and loaned it another $250,000. He has spent $3.8 million since getting into the race on March 8.
Hovde has raised about $320,000 from others in his first bid for office.
He is being challenged for the Republican nomination by former Gov. Tommy Thompson, former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann and state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald.
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin is the only Democrat in the race.
She outraised all four of the Republicans combined for April through June, collecting $2.2 million over that time.
