MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democrats are trying to seize control of the state Senate in Tuesday's recall elections, hoping voters angry over Republican Gov. Scott Walker's policies oust at least one GOP incumbent.

Democrats furious with Walker's plan that stripped most public union workers of their collective bargaining rights have forced the governor, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and three GOP senators into recalls.

They forced a fourth GOP senator into a recall, but she resigned. The election to fill that seat was still set for Tuesday.

The Senate stands divided 16-16. Democrats need one seat to take control. Republicans need all four.

If Democrats gain the majority, they won't be able to do much with it. The Legislature isn't expected to convene until January, and they'd have to defend their seats in November.
