Group Ends Michigan Recall Effort After Wisconsin Results

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- A group seeking to recall Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says it's ending the effort following Gov. Scott Walker's victory in Wisconsin's recall election.

The group called Michigan Rising announced Thursday it would stop collecting signatures, noting that it was short of its goals. Instead, the group says it will focus on a long-term effort to form a progressive think tank, develop progressive leaders and support current progressive legislators.

The group says results in Wisconsin made it clear how difficult it would be to recall Snyder, a Republican.

A message was sent Thursday to a Snyder spokeswoman.

The Snyder administration has said it believes citizens will be more focused on recent economic and state budget improvements in Michigan than a recall effort.

No Michigan governor has ever been recalled from office.

'Really?' You're right. We should totally abolish all recalls so whenever anyone gets elected they should have 0 accountability to the people. They can do whatever criminal behavior they want and defraud the American People with absolutely no recouse. Recalls, what an insult! And when Walker gets walked out the door in handcuffs, we can just cry about activist policemen and judges!

Wisconsin proved this re-call fiasco is just an attempt for the losing party to prolong the process. It is clearly a waste of money and an insult to democracy!!
