UPDATE: President Obama Campaigns in Milwaukee; Katy Perry Performs

UPDATED: Saturday, November 3, 2012 --- 3:05p.m.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Pop star Katy Perry is sporting a skin-tight minidress with President Barack Obama's campaign slogan "Forward" emblazoned across it at the president's rally in Milwaukee.

Perry came on stage at Saturday's event initially wearing a red, white and blue dress and holding a microphone shaped like the Statue of Liberty's torch.

But after her first song, a cover of Al Green's soul hit "Let's Stay Together," she tossed aside the dress to reveal the bright blue minidress.

Obama's slogan "Forward" is also Wisconsin's state motto.

Perry paused midway through her set to make a pitch for donations to victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Obama's rally with Perry comes before he's set to be in Madison on Monday with rocker Bruce Springsteen.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Forget seeing the leader of the free world.

Eight-year-old McKenzie Heindenreich of Janesville was waiting in line for President Barack Obama's rally in Milwaukee not to see him, but his opening act pop star Katy Perry.

McKenzie and her family were among the thousands who braved temperatures in the mid-30s waiting to get inside the Delta Center in downtown Milwaukee for the Obama rally.

Obama campaign spokesman Joe Zepecki says about 9,000 can fit in the area where a stage for Perry's performance was set up to the side of Obama's podium.

On Monday, Obama is bringing Bruce Springsteen to Madison for his final Wisconsin campaign stop before the election.

Perry is expected to play for about 30 minutes before Obama's speech Saturday.

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) — President Barack Obama will be campaigning in Milwaukee on Saturday as part of a multistate swing before Tuesday's election.

His campaign announced the stop on Wednesday. The president is also campaigning in Green Bay on Thursday morning.

The two new stops come as a Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday shows Obama leading Republican Mitt Romney 51 percent to 43 percent in Wisconsin.

The poll of 1,243 likely voters was done between Oct. 25 and Sunday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Romney plans to campaign near Milwaukee on Friday.

Both running mates, Paul Ryan and Joe Biden, are also campaigning in Wisconsin this week.
