Vinehout says winning governor's race is 'doable'

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democratic state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout says winning the governor's race is "doable," and she still hasn't decided whether to get in.

Vinehout said Thursday she is going to spend the next six weeks traveling the state and speaking with people about the possibility of her getting into the race. Vinehout says she still plans on making a decision by early next year.

Former Trek Bicycle Corp. executive Mary Burke announced her campaign earlier this month. Burke is a millionaire who has already garnered the backing of former Sen. Russ Feingold's group Progressives United and the national group EMILY's List. That group spent nearly $5 million last year to help elect Tammy Baldwin as senator.

Vinehout would have to give up her state Senate seat to run.
