Walker Won't Endorse Yet in DPI Race

Posted Monday, November 26, 2012 --- 11:22 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker has worked closely with state schools superintendent Tony Evers on a number of issues the past two years, but Walker isn't saying whether he will back Evers in his re-election bid.

Evers earlier this month announced he was seeking a second term for the nonpartisan position to be elected in April. No one has announced yet that they are challenging him.

Walker on Monday said he has "haven't even talked about" whether he would endorse Evers for a second four-year term. He says that may be something that's discussed in the future.

Walker says he and Evers have a good working relationship.

They have worked on a number of issues, although Evers opposed Walker's proposal taking away teachers' collective bargaining rights.
