VIDEO REPORT: Walker Surprised With GOP Turnout In Primary

Posted Wednesday, May 9, 2012 --- 10:15 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Gov. Scott Walker says he is surprised with the strong Republican turnout in Tuesday's primary election given that he faced only token opposition.

Walker told WTMJ-AM in Milwaukee on Wednesday that there was no sustained get out the vote effort for the primary, but there obviously will be one for the general election on June 5.

About 626,000 votes were cast for Walker, with his little known opponent getting nearly 20,000.

All of the Democrats collectively got about 670,000.

Walker says all the focus was on the hotly contested Democratic primary and people were telling him they didn't even know he had an opponent.

He says the strong votes for him were a good sign for the general election. Says Walker, "We cannot let up."

The fact is that if Walker wins the election, you have to deal with that. No more complaining. The same goes for us. You have to respect majority vote, otherwise you should move to a country with a different constitution. Somehow I don't think the complaining will end if Walker wins.

This man has no shame. He outspent the winning Democrat in the primary and made a concerted effort to appear on conservative talk radio to reach his base. Yet, he implies otherwise. This press release report reveals how quickly his campaign was ready to respond to his low voter outcome numbers...the best response team big money can buy I suppose. The reporting on his comments is weak...other outlets clearly laid out the big money Walker spent.
