MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two state Supreme Court hopefuls, the state schools superintendent and his opponent have filed nomination papers for this spring's elections.
Candidates had until the end of Wednesday to turn in at least 2,000 signatures to the Government Accountability Board.
Supreme Court hopeful Ed Fallone turned in what he said were 3,246 signatures Wednesday afternoon. Lemon law attorney Vince Megna turned in what he said were 2,214 signatures. Fallone and Megna are trying to take Justice Pat Roggensack's seat. She filed what she said were 4,000 signatures last week.
Schools Superintendent Tony Evers, meanwhile, turned in what he said were 5,500 signatures after Fallone deposited his papers. Evers' challenger, Don Pridemore, turned in 2,085 Wednesday morning and another 500 to 600 in the afternoon.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two state Supreme Court hopefuls say they'll turn in their nomination papers Wednesday afternoon.
Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone and lemon law attorney Vince Megna have registered with the state Government Accountability Board to challenge Justice Pat Roggensack in this spring's elections.
They each have until the close of business Wednesday to turn in nomination papers with at least 2,000 signatures to secure a spot on the ballot. Roggensack turned in what she said were 4,000 signatures last week.
State Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Tony Evers and his challenger, state Rep. Don Pridemore, also have until the end of the day to turn in their signatures.
GAB officials have scheduled a primary for Feb. 19. The general election will follow on April 2.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The deadline is looming for Wisconsin Supreme Court and state schools superintendent candidates to turn in their nomination papers.
Justice Pat Roggensack and state Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Tony Evers are both up for re-election this spring. Candidates must submit nomination papers with at least 2,000 valid signatures to the state Government Accountability Board by the end of the day Wednesday to secure a spot on the ballots.
Roggensack turned in what she said were 4,000 signatures on Friday. Lemon law attorney Vince Megna and Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone both have registered with the GAB to challenge her.
State Rep. Don Pridemore, a Hartford Republican, has registered to run against Evers.
GAB officials have scheduled a primary for Feb. 19 and the general election for April 2.
