Wisconsin ranks 3rd in election administration

Posted Tuesday, April 8, 2014 --- 9:35 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A new report ranks Wisconsin among the best in the nation in administering the 2012 elections.

The Pew Charitable Trusts, a nonpartisan public policy group, released the report late Monday evening. The group reviewed 17 points about election administration, including the percentage of provisional ballots cast, the proportion of voter-registration applications rejected and the percentage of adults who voted.

The report ranked Wisconsin third in the country, up from fourth in 2010. North Dakota was first. Minnesota was second.

Kevin Kennedy is the director of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, which oversees elections. He says the report should instill confidence in Wisconsin elections.
