Former Wis. AG Calls on Walker to Explain Fund

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Former Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager wants Republican Gov. Scott Walker to explain his criminal defense fund.

Milwaukee prosecutors are investigating Walker's associates during his tenure as Milwaukee County executive. Five people have been charged so far.

Walker has transferred campaign contributions into a criminal defense fund. He says he's not a target in the probe, but he can set up such a fund only if he or one of his agents are under investigation or have been charged with campaign or election violations.

Walker faces Democrat Tom Barrett in a June 5 recall. Barrett has been demanding Walker explain why he needs the fund.

Lautenschlager, a Democrat who has served as a state attorney general and a U.S. attorney, echoed Barrett Wednesday, saying Walker owes voters an explanation.

This charlatan has no business demanding anything of Walker. Shame on the media for even putting her name in the paper, which was primarily her goal (self-promotion for more legal work from democrats). The charlatan should have a few drinks and stay out of politics.

What a joke! Isn't this the woman who defrauded the state by using her company car on personal time? Not to mention her drunk driving. She should have been banned from practicing law and has no right to call out Walker!!
