It will be the Fonz in bronze.
A bronze statue of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli of "Happy Days" fame will be erected in Milwaukee, where the TV sitcom was set, now that local groups have raised the $85,000 needed to do the job.
Actor Henry Winkler played Fonzie during the show's run from 1974 to 1984, and he's in Milwaukee for the announcement today that the project will go ahead.
He says it's a great compliment to have someone create a statue of the leather-jacketed biker character that he made famous.
The statue is expected to be dedicated around Labor Day. That would coincide with Harley-Davidson's 105th anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.

The statue will be a wonderful addition to the Milwaukee River front. I grew up on the show and have become a BIG collector of the memoriablia. Can't wait to see the statue! From the "Cookie Lady"

Loved the show, and even though there was the hullabaloo about "honoring" a fictional character, it is a fun way to honor someone who is a BIG part of popular culture and represents a much simpler time. People that oppose this need to lighten up. AAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY, Fonz is still cool.
