11/24/2004 Bourbon Street Turkey

Ingredients

  • 1 10-12 pound turkey (wash in cold water)
  • 1 French onion soup base (dry)
  • 5-6 whole cloves of garlic
  • 2 ounces Bourbon (of your choice)
  • 1 tea oil
  • 1 roaster bag

    Directions

    1.) Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

    2.) Season turkey well with dry soup mix inside and out.

    3.) Place in roaster bag, breast side up.

    4.) In skillet heat oil and roast garlic for 2 minutes.

    5.) Add Bourbon and flambé' (be careful) this means fire! When flames extinguish add to bag.

    6.) Bake for approximately 3 hours, in the last 30 minutes remove turkey from roaster bag and let brown.

    7.) Test meat with a bio-thermometer.

    8.) Breast temperature should read 160 degrees and thigh meat 180 degrees.
