Details: A Madison mother became very concerned while pumping gas at a service station on E. Washington Ave. last Friday evening. Her children were in the back of the car, when she saw a group of young men run her way. One was brandishing a handgun, and it was pointed at another person. She immediately became concerned for the safety of her family and called 911. Officers arrived and confronted the teens at gun point. One had a real looking Airsoft gun in a backpack.

The 13-year old admitted he and his friends had been waving it around: "Just playing around being teenagers," he said. The officer told him how situations like this can become very serious, very quickly; when police are called to confront people who have weapons that look real. "Yeah, I know," said the teen, adding, "That was dumb."
