The punishments for 1st and 2nd must be drastic to make a difference. Until people feel the punishment so severe that they won't take the chance, people will keep doing it. Make the 1st time so severe that it scares people from driving.

Drunk drivers ruin other peoples lives. This needs to STOP. I don't want to be killed, paralyzed, or otherwise disabled by a drunk driver. Life is to precious, and these multiple-drunk drivers have no respect for life. So send them to prison, where they can't ruin lives. Driving is dangerous enough when people are sober. A drunk driver is moving a several thousand pound life-wrecker at high speed. And if this guy is an illegal alien, send him back where he belongs.

The reason you are seeing cases with more then one conviction is because THEY ARE doing someting about it finally. Let the police do thier work. It doesnt happen over night. There are stricter rules now. Its just getting them caught now. Be patient, geez!
