UPDATED Wednesday, September 8, 2010 --- 2:05 p.m.

From the Wisconsin State Patrol:

On Wednesday September 8, a fatality crash occurred involving 4 vehicles. 1 person fatally injured.

It occurred on I-94 eastbound, at the 272.5 mile marker. This is in Jefferson County.

A Dodge Caravan was stopped in the left lane due to construction zone traffic/delays. A gray Honda was stopped behind the Caravan, also in the left lane. Behind the Honda was a Buick Lesabre.

A white Toyota Landcruiser entered the zone at highway speed, crashing into the rear of the Buick Lesabre, pushing it into the Honda. The three vehicles went into the median, one of them striking the Dodge Caravan, before coming to rest in the median.

Though resuscitation efforts were made, the driver of the Buick Lesabre was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver is identified as Lavern M. Kolb, 77-years-old, from Wisconsin Rapids.

The driver of the Honda was taken to Fort Atkinson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
