SOME WISCONSIN NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS ARE BACK HOME AFTER A LONG ASSIGNMENT IN IRAQ.

THEY'VE BEEN IN IRAQ FOR NEARLY A YEAR, BUT RETURNED TO A NOISY WELCOME IN LA CROSSE TODAY.
SIX SOLDIERS WITH THE 1–39TH MOBILE PUBLIC AFFAIRS DETACHMENT, WHICH IS BASED IN MADISON, ARE NOW BEING DEMOBILIZED.
THEY WERE STATIONED IN MOSUL… A CITY PLAGUED WITH BOMBINGS.
BUT AS PUBLIC RELATIONS EXPERTS, IT WAS THEIR JOB TO TELL IRAQIS AND AMERICANS ABOUT PROGRESS THAT WAS BEING MADE.

“The Iraqis need to know why we're here, what our jobs is, and why we're there to help them and we also need to get that information back to the United States and all over the world so we get their support.”

THEY ADMIT THERE'S STILL A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE ALONG THOSE LINES…
BUT THEY'RE ALSO VERY HAPPY TO BE HOME IN WISCONSIN TONIGHT.
