UW Helps See the Stars

MADISON (NBC15) Astronomy researchers will have their heads in the stars… thanks to some hard work by some UW experts.

The university's space astronomy laboratory has built the prime focus imaging spectrograph that will be part of a massive telescope in South Africa.

The half ton, $5 million device will sit ten stories above the primary mirror of what will become the largest telescope in the southern hemisphere.

Next stop for the spectrograph... the Kalahari Desert.
