232nd Receives a Welcome Home Celebration

Dozens of Army National Guard members who returned last week re–united Tuesday morning for a welcome home celebration.

Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton greeted the 232nd personnel services company at the guard's state headquarters.

The troops left a year ago for Southwest Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The unit's commander, Capt. Mark Larson says he felt a great sense of relief in bringing everybody back last week. “It's definitely an adjustment that everyone has to go through. We've been going Mach-5 long enough now to feel rather exhausted and people finally feeling fallout... ready to have head hit pillow for next couple of days."

Wisconsin's National Guard still has about 1,700 soldiers and airmen on active duty. More than 1,300 of them are deployed overseas.
