One local community could see a 100-cre complex; complete with schools and recreation areas.
But community leaders say the plan is still in its early stages.
The proposal affects the East side of Sun Prairie near Angell Park. It includes schools, ice rinks, miniature golf and sports fields.
Five different private and public groups would take part, including the city and the school district. Voters in the Sun Prairie area school district will go to the polls in two weeks, to decide whether to approve the purchase of 90 acres on the site.
The school district's administrator says, “We're going to build schools one way or another; the question is do you collaborate and build them to make best use of it or do you not and in Sun Prairie we collaborate.”
No one has announced the potential cost of the project. Sun Prairie's mayor says the project is another step toward the redevelopment of downtown.
