Tourism Jingle Sounds Familiar

Wisconsin's new tourism jingle may have hit a bad note.

Last week, Governor Doyle introduced a new tourism ad campaign exclaiming “Life's so Good” in Wisconsin.

Now, its song may be the subject of possible copyright infringement.
The jingle bares a striking resemblance to a 1970's song entitled “Alright” by the British band “Supergrass.”

But Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Jim Holperin says the song and its lyrics are original works that capture the positive feelings people experience while visiting Wisconsin.

“it's a good upbeat phrase, 'Wisconsin, Life's So Good' it captures an emotion that people have when they vacation here. A feeling they get when in Wisconsin, so the reaction has been generally positive,” says Holperin.

The jingle was composed by a Milwaukee–area artist, specifically for the department's new advertising campaign.

Holperin says the issue of copyright infringement was addressed long before the song was released, and any resemblance to “Alright” is purely coincidental.
