WI Quarters Worth $500

(NBC15) Check your pockets because you could have a quarter worth hundreds of dollars.

The U.S. mint printed 453-million Wisconsin quarters last year between October and December that may have a mistake on them.

Coin dealers say a rare few have an extra cornstalk leaf on the tail side.
It is uncertain whether the mistake was intentional, or just a flaw in the press.

So the question is, if you find one of these quarters, what do you do with it?

Len, a coin dealer, says, "Usually on U.S. mint stuff, to me if it goes up immediately and I have something to sell, I'd sell it because generally speaking when you get everybody looking they'll be more and then the price goes down.”

According to some coin dealers, the flawed coins are selling for up to $600 apiece.

A U.S. mint spokesman says they are looking into how the extra leaf may have gotten there.
